He tried to hard and now there's no subtlety. Animatronics aren't supposedto be designed with the intention of being creepy, so there's no way these got any use.

>>
>>338495889
Why not just buy one of them? Each one, although connects the lore, has a pretty closed up story.

Plus, each game is like 4 hours long. People keep clammoring for more. Especially when each new game has a different kind of gimmick

But in the end
>>
>>338495889
It was really interesting at the time the games came out to find out new hidden things and meaning behind the games. I allways bought the games upon release so spending some time in various places discussing what means what was actually a really great time to me

Not many games do that nowadays

Besides when it comes to the horror element it does a great job so being a fan of the genre as much as i am i really enjoyed playing through this games. Before FNAF there were only walking simulators with jumpscares at the end everywhere in the indie scene so this one kinda stood out for being more than that

the first one was kind of creepy because of the rough artstyle. Springtrap was more or less creepy too.

Everything between and since comes off as a christian man making kid game art. Honestly, Scott should just sell the franchise to a publisher who will do things with the series he can't because his pastor cautions him not to.

Finally, someone else says it.

I think part of what made the original FNAF so popular in the first place was the fact that the animatronics looked just like what you'd expect from Chuck E. Cheese's, where they're supposed to be cute and kid-friendly but just come off as unintentionally creepy.

Scott keeps trying to up the horror factor which leads to a shitload of animatronics that would never be used to entertain children. It completely removes the nostalgia factor of remembering being scared by Chuck E. as a kid.

i played games 1-3 and that pic pretty much sums it up

i get that the creator wanted to make "terror" versions of the animatronics on part 4 look like a nightmare to a kid but the thing is, as someone who was scared of mascots and shit when i was a kid, I never had nightmares where they had sharp shit all over them. They were scary enough as they were.
>>
>>338506837

Trying to justify it looking stupid with a lame excuse doesn't make it not stupid
>>
>>338506850
the first one was good then the game garnered an insufferable autistic fanbase (read: not normalfags) and the creator drove the series into the ground.
>>
>>338494750

>>
>>338507019
>creator drove the series into the ground
And he made millions doing it. I can't say I blame him.
>>
>>338506474
but most of the points are still relevant

The designs of the new ones are designed to intimidate, there's no sense of realism to the animatronics, therefore they aren't scary, everything about the designs scream "HOLLYWOOD", and the novelty is gone, the dead horse is all bones, yet he still beats it.
>>338506521
Even with the contenxt, the designs are not scary. Yes, it is the perspective of a child, their minds will warp the designs to be much scarier than how they actually are, however, we, the people playing the game, are not children, therefore, the relation is lost, and they end up looking dumd and not as scary.
>>
>>338507103
you can make millions off of a game without driving it into the ground by appealing to the lowest common denominator every single time.
>>
>>338507113
>THE CREATOR SHOULD HAVE DONE IT LIKE THIS! WAAAH

I don't even play any of the games and you are sounding like a fuckwit. Honestly, the guy is probably creatively bankrupt at this point. 2 was the last game where he could keep doing the uncanny valley shit with the animatronics without it getting stale. 3 and 4 were just natural progression in order to keep milking the franchise and getting more money, which I honestly can't even blame him for since the fanbase eats whatever he puts out regardless.

Shifting face plates allows for a crude way to make complex facial expressions, like a lifted eyebrow or a corner of a mouth. I can't find a real example of this because search results are clogged with FNAF shit, but I'm sure it's been done.

>don't hold it against us
>you don't know what we've been through

I'll admit, that voice is creppy as fuck. That will be the clown girls voice, right?

I'm not aware of fnaf lore, but I'm pretty sure none of the anamtronics were self-aware (right?) So the thought of these ones being conscious is kinda cool. I hope they'll all have VA.

As for location, we start off in an elevator for sure, then were moving around a vent, and a control panel room. This would imply that we can move around, or that we can at least use the vents to get around. Their will probably be small anamtroimcs that also use the vents, that will force you to consider timing/what route to take. Mark my words that will happen.

As for story, I have two ideas
1. Some cult like shit is going down and your the sacrifice. But babe is awear of all the horrible shit they do, and will be the replacement to phone guy. Giving you instructions every night on how to avoid them/her, until your set free or escape or whatever.

2. This is a big fucked up TV show, now that the world knows how you can stuff a body into a suit and it's soul will latch on to it until it gets vengeance. Your the lucky contestant! (Prisoner) who will be forced to survive 5 nights in the underground. If you win (no one to date has) you get a fuckton of money. However, the anamationics are just as much prisoners as you. They're existence is suffering and they'll never get revenge on the TV dude who did this to them. The phone guy is replaced with a preppy voiced TV host who slowly gets angrier at you for actually surviving. The ending screen will be a cheque for a huge some of money. The 6th night will be some sort of bonus round for the player to make even more money, but at the end it will go wrong and the anamtronics will escape and get their vengeance on the TV dude.

Thoughts on these ideas?

Thats kinda what I was going at with the "hollywood" style. He's keeping the games designs new and fresh, but he's appealing to the younger demographic and the modern horror film types.
>>338507370
That is true, but it would never be relevant or included in a real pizza place with animatronics. However, what was shown to us doesn't look like complex facial expressions, rather a cheap new way of scaring kids with jumpscares. The face opens to reveal the endoskeleton, not lift an eyebrow or the mouth. Thats what the original designs did right. It was simple, but uncanny, and the intention of the designs was not meant to scare children.
>>338507490
They look too static. Not only that, but there's no way a pizza parlor would allow Foxy's teeth to be that sharp.Kids can clearly tell its a weird robot from the design, rather than the "comfy and fluffy" look Chucke E Cheese went for

This makes the genre very saturated with trash

>>338508559
>there's no way a pizza parlor would allow Foxy's teeth to be that sharp

Now you are just nitpicking. Plus, you are forgetting that the tagline for this game is "please stay in your seats". I These animatronics clearly aren't supposed to directly interact with the people. Maybe they are on rails or hey, even are supposed to stay on the stage at all times. Unlike the other games, I don't think there is ever a situation in this game where foxy should be near a child
>>
>>338508559
>That is true, but it would never be relevant or included in a real pizza place with animatronics.

I wouldn't be so quick to say that. I instantly thought of that function when I saw the trailer. I would not be surprised if this had been done before.

>However, what was shown to us doesn't look like complex facial expressions, rather a cheap new way of scaring kids with jumpscares.

>The face opens to reveal the endoskeleton, not lift an eyebrow or the mouth.

Watch Foxy and Freddy's animations again. The only one that was deliberately "scary" was Baby's and that was within context given the unhinged nature of the voicing and what is apparently going on.

It's a simple game, and there is plenty of effort put into it on the modeling level alone. Gameplay is different across games, they're just small games and Scott isn't concerned with sitting down and making a huge complex game. The content reflects the price. You're treating it as if it's a huge big budget game because you don't like the cancerous fanbase that attached itself to it and are assuming the developer is only making games to appeal to them when the first game brought him plenty of success.
>>
>>338508559
Foxy had razor teeth in the first game m8, if anything these designs are a return to 1's and 2's. Scott had also never gone for the comfy and fluffy feel, all the animatronics look like they were made with plastic

Wait, why is he releasing a new game? Wasn't the last one he put out broken beyond measure and never fixed?
>>
>>338495889
The first two games are the best in the series. 3 and 4 exist only to appease FNAF fans desperate for a new game/more lore, and FNAF World tries to do what Desolate Hope did with a FNAF theme, so that can be skipped, unless you're a huge fan of mediocre RPG's that are victims of their creators' poor direction (like, say, FF13 or Lufia 1).

So if you can find FNAF1/2 for cheap (not hard, a lot of websites sell keys for them for pennies on the dollar), they're worth getting. Everything else you can ignore completely.
>>
>>338510486
He ended up making FNAF World free and refunded everyone

He then proceeded to turn it into his own personal vehicle to shitpost about the series

Also souldozer shows up somewhere in it now

Honestly I'm looking forward to this one.

I saw the trailer and noticed how the "office" moves up and down, and how you can crawl inside vents. Something tells me the gameplay is wildly different this time, like in 4.

Plus I like the design of the new animatronics. For the most part, they look unintentionally creepy (like in 1 and 2) instead of being overdesigned crap intended to be scary (like in 3 and especially 4).

So let me get this straight, it is the game's fault if any e-celeb jerkoff uploads a video of their face while the play the game?

Fuck off, what did the indie horror scene had before FNAF? They had Slenderman-based games wich consisted in nothing but a walking simulator until you got jumpscared, or they only had a jumpscare simulator

This game was the first one in a long time that had more going for than just some jumpscares, especially with the subplot it had and the RNG events that could happen

Seriously the games are perfectly fine for the price tag they have

Well, at the end of FNAF World (After the newest update), you meet a guy called "the Creator" wich tells you that he created something called "Baby" and that it's too late to stop her, after that the screen cuts to black and you can hear someone saying "The show will begin, please stay on your seats" then the Creator appears to be dead

That phrase that you hear was also in the teaser image in the main website along with a picture of the little animatronic in the front of >>338516284 picture

Damn. Well that makes sense if it's a personal fear.

But by the very definition of horror, for something to be universally scary it should be something that disturbs the viewer because it confuses them on some level. Individual people have fears of stuff like animatronics or spiders or whatever, but when it's in your face then anyone who doesn't have that specific fear isn't going to be scared by it.

That's why the earlier Silent Hills and games like Forbidden Siren or Penumbra are so good, because most of the monsters aren't easily recognizable as anything else, so your brain is left to piece together information about what the fuck you're looking at which is what leads to that universally shared sensation of terror. Combined with having to process this information, which is screwing with your perception, you also have to act in a game, which creates even more tension since now your brain is having to deal with whatever the fuck it is you're looking at AND run away/fight/take a picture/whatever. That's how good horror games instill a sense of helplessness too.

Or, I don't know. Maybe just a cock load of people are scared of Chuck e Cheese.
>>
>>338520172
I am scared of those games, but what i really admire is the moments before the jumpscare, the games create a really nice atmosphere that horror fans enjoy

There is two types of horror games in this world

>The games that think the jumpscare has to be the scary part

Something that would fit this description would be anything Slenderman is in, because you know the jumpscare is unavoidable

>Games that rely on the atmosphere they create
This would be the category that FNAF fits in, it's not about the jumpscare, it's about seeing that animatronic get closer and closer and thinking you have to be quick when it shows up to stop it. The jumpscare is just the game's way to tell you "You fucked up, you lost a life"

Being as huge horror fan as i am, i appreciate that something like FNAF came along when all the indie horror scene had at the time was Slenderman jumpscare simulators or random monster jumpscare simulators with unavoidable jumpscares

It's strange because in my playing of it I really would put it into the former category but I am not a fan of jump scares at all. They do absolutely nothing to me and I'm an anxious fucker who nearly jumped out of his chair yesterday when my cat knocked over a can of seltzer.

Maybe it's desensitization from a thousand horror movies, but jump scares just make me groan. The only thing more boring than a jump scare is excessive visceral gore. I see your point though and I didn't think of the jump scare as actually being a punishment to the player, which is certainly how I feel about it. That's actually pretty brilliant then in context.

With that in mind, maybe I'll give it another go.

This really bothered me at first, until I came to terms with the fact that just because it takes place inside a dream, that doesn't mean that it doesn't have deep lore or compelling story. All it being a dream really means is that there can potentially be 2 stories going on at once, with a dream continuity and a real life continuity

Okay I'll be honest the Foxy thing was a cool connection. The grandfather clock thing? So why is it only in the first 3 games when all four are a dream? He's in the hospital in 4 but not in the first three games? So it's a dream within a dream? The games can be connected Like he points out, seems too convenient.

The Chica's beak thing is kind of cool, along with Mangle, but why does she have a beak when on stage? It's not like she's always missing her beak. Even in the posters she has her beak.

The atmosphere of horror depends heavily on the player not knowing what the animatronics will do if they get them, sure it can be really tense at the start, but after the first few jumpscares, the atmosphere dies off very quickly since you know that there's no real consequence if you fail, that there won't be anything creepier afterwards.
The game basically turns into a chore to get through

How the fuck do you retards even enjoy this game?
You might as well be talking about how Slender is such an innovative and creative horror game

Scott's seriously based.
FNAFWorld was created literally as a shitposting game.
The Rainbow is voiced by fucking Jimmy Neutron, and you fight Souldozer.
It's pretty obvious that he makes games because he enjoys it. The only "cash-grabby" one was FNAF 2, and if anything, it felt more rushed than cash-grabby.
He even regretted how quick he pumped out the first version of FNAFWorld and refunded everyone who purchased it, regardless of play time, and then made it free.

I mean, we even put Freddy in the fucking intro to /v/ the Musical 2.

Slender and the original Five Nights at Freddy's were creative and innovative. Did they blow up in popularity and become shitty bloated cashcows? Yes, but let's just talk about the originals here.

Both are extremely simple in both gameplay, story, logic parameters, and comprehension. A five-year-old can understand all of these. That's part of why it's such an easy stream/Youtube game to play, too. In both the games, the horror boils down to "complete this simple-sounding objective or you die and get a spook." Collect the pages, don't look at monster in Slender. Keep power on, keep an eye on monsters in FNAF. You don't even move in FNAF.

In Slender, you are being chased and stalked. The goal is to keep moving and don't get cornered. That's prime horror material, and underutilized. In FNAF, again, you can't move. Call it a gameplay contrivance or a case of adversity enhancing the end result of the game's creation, but you are already cornered in FNAF--you cannot escape. You have nowhere to go. That is also prime horror material, and underutilized in horror games before.

Combine that with creepypasta Slenderman concept that little kids eat up, and the orignal FNAF's ultra-clever and actually subtle animatronic design, and you have two games that just need to be executed well. And say what you will, but they were. They worked. Am I gonna argue they're 10/10? No, but there's a definite reason they blew the fuck up.

It didn't help that when both of these games came out around the same time, people were already starved for any and all horror games. This was pre-PT. I mean, we're still fucking starved for horror games, but you get my point.

Slender was not fucking creative in the slightest. It was a shitty fetch quest with a scary pop-up man that went "boo" once in a while. It's fucking bare bones shit. It's like saying that pong would have been an innovative game if it came out today.
>>
>>338562205
Slender was nothing original. Marble Hornets and EverymanHybrid both had more staying power, which is telling when the only movie adaptation of Slender Man is based off of the former series, and not the game.

FNAF comes off as much more original to the average consumer, and with the comparative depth it brings when compared to Slender, it's naturally got more staying power. Slender is completely bare bones in the way of story, while FNAF gets a bunch of autists going the way Dark Souls does.

I'm pretty excited for it. The animatronics look pretty interesting and the ballerina is creepy as hell. What I like most is the colors being used in this game(If that even makes a bit of sense). It's very blue, which sets the mood a lot for me. I think the one thing that creeps me out is that thing sitting on the machinery.

I think the one thing I would have liked is for the animatronics to be like some sort of walking iron maiden, where they open up, stuff you inside them and you just flat out die. shit like that creeps me the hell out. Considering their insides however, I can't see that happening. But who knows.

I think that's one issue I have. With Fnaf, when you got a game over, you'd see what happened to you. With every other game however(Maybe not fnaf 2, but eh), it'd just be a game over. I kinda miss that.

I've always wanted to see a FNaF with animatronics that are pretty much entirely true to the designs and weird movements of actual '80s Chuck E. Cheese animatronics.
http://i.imgur.com/CoeXGes.gifv

I would also want stuff like a filter that makes the game look like a video recording from the early '80s, like pic related, and audio that also sounds straight out of an early VHS recording, like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iDVcHVm4U4w

It would also be cool if the audio was the number-one indicator that an animatronic was getting closer to you, and would gradually acquire more and more overlapping sounds, generally stuff along the lines of the audio in the video, to let you know you're about to die if you don't do something. If you let an animatronic get you, the audio goes dead silent for a second before the scream, which sounds just as grainy and dirty as the rest of the game's audio, and is also different for each character. The subsequent static would be a literal recording of a mangled VHS tape, and would sound like the static in one point in this episode of Oddity Archive, at the 2:23 mark: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HlXUOQOgVOU
Oddity Archive is a really interesting show, by the way. It's definitely something FNaF fans would like.

The restaurant itself would have an actual arcade, with all sorts of late-'70s-to-early-'80s era arcade cabinets, whether they're real or just made up. The restaurant would also look extremely '70s, with the whole "everything is a trapezoid with wood paneling and warm colors" motif.

The last thing on my mind is the way the animatronics appear while looking at them. They would all look stunted and unnatural, like actual Chuck E. Cheese animatronics do, and would never actually look at the camera lens. They would also all have what I like to call the "animatronic face". If you don't know what that is, just use this link: http://i.imgur.com/WW6QUJk.jpg

>On July 8, 1974, nine days after the attraction opened, 18-year-old Disneyland cast member and America Sings hostess Deborah Gail Stone was crushed to death between two walls of the building around 10:35-10:40pm. A narrow channel between a stationary wall and a rotating wall was open and Deborah either fell, stepped backwards or tried to jump from one stage to the other as the rotating wall began to move (it moved every 2-4 minutes which was how long each act was). She died 20 minutes later at 11pm when the carousel was being reset for a new cycle. One of the audience members heard Deborah's screams and notified park staff. Other employees didn't notice the dismembered body until the end of the show and thought that Deborah's death screams were part of the show. Deborah's parents attempted to sue Disney for the death of their daughter, which resulted in a small settlement.

>no real place would what a fictional place does

Well, you see, that's the beauty of fiction, it does whatever the fuck you want it to. In real life turtles aren't fifty feet tall and breathe fire at plumbers who can jump fifty feet and grow huge with mushrooms and throw fireballs from their hands while flying around galaxies. Also, this is a universe where the restaurant hides the gruesome murders of kids and employees behind false walls and complete changing and washing of materials each time it happens and outright tells the guards that if they die it's not their fault.

Stop demanding realism from fiction, and you'll enjoy it a lot more.

See it's weird as characters I think they are wasted on jump scares. I'm not saying they should go full 3D roamer, but the jump scares could be done with a wiffle bat and a blow horn.

I need some gameplay to concentrate on to get me into it to be scared. Monitor duty just doesn't do it for me.

The ride functions by spinning the theater seats around four different stages, in a circle, and it just so happens that there's one non-moving concrete wall right at the end.
Essentially, one employee thought it was fun to run in-between the moving wall, and non-moving wall, and run back out right before the walls closed together.
Well, one time, they got cocky, and couldn't run out in time.
The people could hear her screams inside the theater, but assumed it was part of the ride. Her crushed corpse, bits of it stuck to each wall, and bits and chunks and trails of blood dragged all across the rotating floor, weren't found until hours later.

>all I know them from are cartoons
Kek. I've never even thought about how an "outsider" would react to the real things, only having seen them depicted in cartoons before. But yeah, the ones from the '80s, and ESPECIALLY the ones from the late '70s (last link in the post), were genuinely terrifying, but the Showbiz/current Chuck E. Cheese animatronics are nowhere near that level in terms of their movement, although they're still kind of creepy. Fun fact: I've actually seen a few of those ancient Chuck E. Cheese and Showbiz Pizza shows on YouTube, and they were both pretty good, believe it or not. You could really tell the writers and voice-actors were having fun.

>Springtrap in Baby's image
>underground place
>looks like some kind of factory or lab
>super high-tech animatronics

This is set after FNAF 3. Someone bought the surviving material from Fazbear's Fright, including Springtrap. He was so enamored with the design of Springtrap as well as the lore of Fazbear's that he made his own animatronics reverse-engineered from Springtrap and with the suit-coming-apart thing as their main gimmick. And somehow the children's souls have returned likely to try to finish off their killer once and for all.

Also

>the glowing dot eyes in FNAF World telling you the pieces are in place and to find them and help them in the Clock ending
>the same glowing dot eyes telling The Child "I will put you back together"

Baby was the one who helped the children's souls find peace by showing the Adventure Animatronics how to help them.

It sucks because the original idea was way smarter
Back when the game was called "Those Nights At Fredbears", the game basically worked like a freeroam FNAF- you could leave the office and run around in first person and hide from the animatronics under different objects. Your objective was to explore and find a few items while dodging the animatronics, and being careful not to kill the power. It looked far scarier.
