The worst release CA ever did was Rome 2 and before that was Empire.
Rome 2 was legit unfinished and garbage in every way at launch. It's an okay, mid-tier title after all the balancing and patching now.
Empire just ran like fucking garbage and was the first run of the warscape engine, which while it was designed for gunpowder still had bugs that weren't fixed till the release of Nappy.
All CA games have balancing problems at launch. They're always huge games, so the launch always comes with bugs and a lack of polish from units.
Since you don't have to preorder for the Chaos, follow my advice and don't buy day-one. Wait a day or two to see if it's another Rome 2 (trust me if it is, the shitposters in /v/ will be on it at midnight). if it isn't, it's up to you. Waiting a year will ensure you get the best version of it. Buying now puts you on the cultural zeitgeist and means that your threads of it won't be pushed to page 10.

The hill humping made a lot of the battles feel more like sieges to me. It was intelligent for the AI to do and was cute the first time, but the AI lacks any sort of adaption, which is an always will be the problem for Totalwar. It can hill-camp, but once you're hard countering that tactic, it doesn't know how to do anything else unless the map doesn't support it. In sieges it always rushes instead of sieging intelligently. I feel Shogun 2 had the best AI in the end, but it had a lot of shortcuts to displaying this intelligence and it was ultimately a shallow intelligence at that.

There's plenty of videos out there right now where the player doesn't have an artillery unit in their starting army and the AI instead decides to take a favorable position on a hill if there's one, meet up with its reinforcements or otherwise. It's not completely retarded

Dwarves are spiteful creatures and lust for gold and treasure. They are hard headed as well. They had a brutal war with the Elves called the "War of the Beard" that deserves some looking in to. Dwarves generally try to be positive characters but when shit gets under their skin they don't let go and commit themselves to do or die situations more than anyone.
