With that being said the lighting/skin texture look a little more realistic/natural, but the over shadow/over-textured look makes the first one look better. Judging from the trailer:
-Character models are hit or miss, some look better in some parts (like Batman's cape or Catwoman's suit), but many of them have a more plastic look.
-Particle effects are better, but lighting and some effects are all over the place, with almost every scene having substantially worse shadows and lighting, making a lot of character models look a lot more plastic looking.

Ok, i'm not gonna defend this because it does look like shit, but...
I think this is like the first images/vids we got of KOFXIV, where a lot of filters, bumpmaps, and lighting effect were still missing...to me the main "proof" of this is at the end of the video where they show Clayface, in the remaster there is no sign of the projected video on Clayface's body, so there is definitely some lighting missing in there.
But, at the same time, in other part of the vid it is clear they polished some textures and models, as example Harley in here >>338438447 clearly shows her model has more polygons(shoulder is less pointy), as well as added details directly in the model rather than simple bumpmaps(the belt on the side of her boob, under the armpit, in the original is just a texture, in the remaster is actually modeled).
So yeah, they did indeed "improved" the 2 games on the graphical point, but this video shows us a moment in the process where they havent adjusted lighting, filters, and maps yet, and this is a fucking huge mistake from them.

Because it doesn't work well with dynamic lighting (particulary the sun), they have to make the lighting worse to work with the pre-baked assets. When the game have to rely on the in game lighting, it can look like absolute shit, hence there are a lot of places/view where it looks bad.
