I like plenty of games which are made by small teams / individual people with little or no budget (e.g. touhou, battle for wesnoth) but they aren't often labelled or promoted as "indie" games. When I hear "indie" games I think of the garbage that gets virally marketed as such on the internet and it almost feels like a red flag at this point.

The gap in quality between Dark Souls and fucking Skyrim, the ultimate reddit-meme 'game' where you literally walk around an empty world, popularising the walking sim for the future generations, is not comparable to that between Undertale and fucking Mother, which had even less gameplay. kind of a huge spoiler but:the secret ending turns the "SO DEEP ENDBOSS MONOLOGUE" trope on it's head. with the normal ending resulting in the player character blowing their brains out after realizing everything they did was worthless. then for a secret ending, instead of killing themselves, the player finds the secret final boss that they literally cannot beat without cheating. once they do beat them though, the final boss tells them something along the lines of "Fuck you, there was no higher meaning, you did it because it was fun. stop expecting your actions to be justified and your guilt to be washed away". it's a turn from the regular course of the game which has lots of layers of interlocking lore revealed through exploration of the environment that help with solving puzzles.i expect everybody to fucking hate that and get mad that i cucked them out of some stupid pretentious meaningless twist

Anyway:
Red Eclipse.
An open source fast paced arena FPS. Has a parkour system (i heard that it was similar to Titanfall, but i haven't played it). Every weapon has two different shot attacks (you can even use a sword).
The game is like 5 years old and it's currently in 1.5 version.
It has a small but nice community. But right now, almost all the great names had left (all of them grew and now started working) and just play every now and then. So i think it's the best time to start playing for new people.
I pitched an idea to the creators about creating more gameplay videos to attract more people (because the ones on youtube barely showcased the gameplay capabilities of this game), and i made two (one a little cringy) videos with some gameplay i recorded in a couple of hours. So please don't judge them harshly (WATCH THEM AT LEAST AT 480P OR 720P 60 FPS, they look disgusting on lower res).
