When you get all the upgrades along the way and start playing again, allowed to use whatever weapon instead of using the one that needs specific situations like "Get 3 kills in one rocket, 10 times" the game suddenly becomes very easy as long as it's a corridor.

It becomes stupidly difficult because of artificial difficulty increasing the damage you take in arenas, but then you just pull out the BFG and it's over because >12 monsters only

Single player is FUCKING FANTASTIC, multiplayer is whatever.
I actually played a couple of MP games yesterday to see if they were as bad as people said but it was still really fast and entertaining despite having loadouts since you still need to have map control of stuff like megahealth or super weapons/demon transformation
the demons are kinda dumb since they get very health padded but overall it's more fun than any other multiplayer game I've played

You're just about fast enough to dodge enemies.
The thing they did to make it seem fast is give every demon a dash attack and spam the fuck out of it.
Otherwise if a demon focuses on ranged e.g. Possessed Soldiers (who are stupidly, ridiculously overpowered compared to the source material, those green haired zombies), they actually stay usually perfectly still for the sake of console aiming. Same with Imps when you look and pay attention to them, they often jump into an awkward spot and then stay there, before and after throwing a fireball.

+looks good indoors
+some weapons are real fun, gauss canon or rocket launcher
+boss battles are generally well done
+added in lore elements help the game
+nice moment to moment gameplay in short burts of play
+usually nice level design


-outdoors environment look just awful
-lack of visual variety, especially for hell which looks like a series of caves with candles and skulls lying around
-god awful plot even for how little there is of it, the villain gets barely any characterization or motivation and turns into a giant spider for fucks knows what reason
-lack of any balance in weapons, pistol is worthless, chain gun is worthless except for big units and bosses, machine guns has no place in the game, plasma gun does 0 damage
-weapons overlap in their use machine gun/chain gun/plasma gun all do the same thing, all are equally worthless and shotty/double shotty
-grandes are shit, do 0 damage late game, hologram and siphon grenades do nothing
-extremely repetitive arena design system
-fucking death pits everywhere, you will die ass often falling from shit as from enemies
-level design often makes 0 logical sense, often rooms seem to go nowhere and serve no purpose, too many seem to slapped together at last moment from ready assets
-chaingun makes searching for ammo pointless
-too easy on all 3 difficulties, have to unlock the only one that would be called hard in another game
-rune trials are pointless 15-90 second one time distractions
-lack of gameplay variety
-executions give too little health on higher nightmare and ultra nightmare, but still due to them health pickups regen 1 health
-multiplayer is awful in every waty possible
-lack of balance in MP
-90 second multi lobby wait times from games as short as 90 second...
-snap map is too limited to be worth any attention, clearly aimed at consoles

Here's the opinion (haven't played MP or SnapMap yet):

+Game looks good
+Has gameplay akin but not exactly like DOOM 1, 2, and 64
+Has decent spooky atmosphere like DOOM 3
+Story isn't full retard, gives proper motivation for rip and tear, and leaves previous DOOM canon intact
+Single player length is generous, first playthrough of ultra-violence with heavy exploration has taken me about 14 hours and I haven't finished it yet (your mileage may vary)
+New mechanics work well for keeping the game fun and different as you progress
+Glory kills are satisfying, the chainsaw and BFG are hard to abuse and are a quick way out of overwhelming situations (think of screen-clearing bombs in SHMUPs)
+There is so much shit to look for; this game may as well have been billed as a collectathon

-Enemies spawn in rather than already being on the map, I understand engine limitations affect this but it was important to walk into a room and NOPE the fuck out of there in DOOM 1 & 2
-Gore nests are a fun arena event but locking you in a room with monsters until they are all dead seems counter-intuitive to what early DOOM did
-Exploration is heavily emphasized and if you don't explore, you are effectively nerfing yourself
-Praetor suit upgrades could have been more useful/cooler
-Soundtrack kind of blows, it is mostly ambient until you get in a fight, but still gets me pumped at some points
-No sign of extra single player episodes, just MP stuff in the season pass (didn't buy)

Most of my complaints stem from it not being DOOM 1 or 2, but overall...

8/10, buy it for $40 or less for best value, GOTY so far

I kind of liked them. I'll agree that they break up the pace of the game unfavorably, but two of the runes are quite useful in my play style: the one that drops armor shards on glory kills and the one that lets you launch into a glory kill from far away.

Second level. The first time you go outside in it, when you're right under the satellite dish you've got to fight your way through a horde of enemies to open a door to a control panel. It's really fun. I'm allergic to shooter campaigns and I think it's great. I do kindof feel like it would be easier to lose your attention without the upgrade system but the system isn't that bad so who cares. Also I wish the glory kills system didn't make your character stop. The entire game gives you the feel that you're tearing your way through space like a wombat on rollerblades but then there's this mechanic that makes you frequently take two second pauses to see one of 8 animations over and over again. Those are small problems though, they don't keep the game from feeling like they spent far more time on the minutiae of blowing shit to bits than 99% of other modern shooters.

Yep. I finished it on nightmare and the same happens, but it largely only triggers if you're at 40 health or lower, regardless of what your max health cap is. Glory kills always give you a guaranteed 5 health potion, but the "Low health gimme heals" pinata happens even with ranged kills if your health is low.

Afaik it encrypts the actual game files themselves and it does it in a different way every single time. So basically without any other DRM you could run a game with Denuvo just fine without paying for it but if there is DRM denuvo keeps you from being able to actually interact with it to apply a crack.

Multiplayer hasn't changed since the Beta so the overall opinion on that is that it's very generic and not at all like it should be.

Singleplayer is OK and just that. Personally i've never been a massive fan of DOOM and the whole ''clear a level before progressing'' makes things extremely boring.
