My only gripe with this game, apart from the glory kills, the way it just looks like Quake 2-4. Imps, cacos and so are OK, but the guys with the red vertebrae and the grunts are just like stroggs. Everyone has this techy futuristic suit that is upgraded by strangely designed USBs, the knights from the end just got out from Quake, the double barreled shotgun is recycled from Fallout and Wolfenstein...

Heck, they even got the railgun (or something like that) into the game and the third weapon (the one that shoots blue balls) is just lacking an alternative lightning fire to be just like that one in Unreal Tournament.

Still... I guess I kind of enjoyed it. But the story made no sense.

Was she a demon or something? Was she just brainwashed? Crazy?

Doom was about a near-future marine with realistic weaponry apart from just friggin' cool stuff (plasma weapons) battling demons in hell.

Quake was about a badass medieval grunt with epic weapons (although he got access to some crazy shit like grenade launchers and a ray casting weapon) killing fantastic creatures in a gritty and grim version of D&D.

They differentiate in everything, but the hud.

It's typical of modern FPSes but that doesn't make it inherently bad. They could just get rid of Hack Modules and Demon Runes or add "Hardcore" modes where that stuff is disabled by default and it'd be fine

Doom and Quake had interesting movement. Even today DOOM has more advanced movement mechanics, because of sr50, than any other FPS out today. Same with quake and bunnyhopping. With consoles you can't do sick movement like that. So what do you? Make the games slow as fuck and the enemies retarded. How do you make that interesting? Throw in some dumbass cover mechanic. but its not worth full price
it lacks replayability, the story is fucking shit and ends on a cliffhanger
and the game is so piss fuck easy you can tell it was designed for console users
all unlockable secrets give resident evil type of models to view in 3d, nothing more, and all of them are easy to find in your first run
bonus oldschool levels are shit and not worth your time
rune challenges are a handful of short 15-90 second time trials you will do once and never touch again

game suffers also from lack of any balance, some weapons are better while other are pure trash, starting pistol feels like a joke, and gauss gun is the weapon you will probably use 24/7 late game as it 1 shoots everything and never runs out of ammo
some runes are broken, you will get one that gives infinite ammo next to one that allows you to make executions like 5% faster

everybody talked about multi already, its just awful in every way possible, 0 balance, forced few minute breaks between matches that can last not much longer, broken op demon runes and buffs, half of weapons do no damage and overlap in how they work, everybody just run chaingun shotty
hack modules, like ones that allow you too see through walls are the icing on teh cake
interface and ui, extremely short match games make it impossible to create a stable community

snapmap entries so far are simplistic jokes you would expect from someone who first touched and games sdk, tool feels limited and aimed 100% at console community


overall it feels like budget game, at 30$ i would maybe recommend it, but at 60$ its a fucking insult they want that much from you

Well, feel free to disagree, but you're wrong. What exactly did they butcher? The monsters look like appropriate updates of the originals (eh... minus the Cyberdemon). The levels are big, filled with secrets, non-linear, and packed with enemies. The music is thumping, the storyline is Doom-enough without outright copying the typical teleporter-gone-wrong schtick. All the guns are there, and they are more fun than ever with their mods and the ability to upgrade their effectiveness. Where did they butcher this, and where did they fail to stay true to the series' roots, because I'm not seeing it.
