Can we talk about what is really wrong here? Let's ignore whether we like or dislike the game. How the fuck did they do this to the OST? They took what was the most thrash metal track in video games ever created, even more so than feel a fear, and made it wub wub garbage.

I turned it down which is a shame when I shouldn't have had to. That's probably one of the better things about this game, you can usually turn off shit you don't want. I have found myself needing to use glory kills more as I get further into the game though. I'm playing on Ultra and it's not hard but I just need the life sometimes.

I agree with OP. The music blows and the sound design sucks. At least they got the plasma rifle sorta right. But the sounds and music has no visceral feel to them. That's a huge part of the atmosphere and part of what made Doom so original and memorable. If we can mod it wouldn't be hard to fix. But yeah I was really disappointed when I saw a grameplay on YouTube. Hell, they should have just ripped off the original sounds music and dropped then right in and I would have bought this game for pure nostalgia. As it stands now I'll just bitch on v.

Many community pwads are larger than the original doom iwads...the community has made hundreds of games that play longer and are just as interesting than the original doom iwads.

i beat it today after buying it on tuesday. its a ton of fun and the music is a lot of fun when the fighting starts. theres 8 main guns and 6 of them have two alternate fire that you can switch between on the fly, so the combat is as exciting as you want it to be, which can be pretty crazy when the came starts actually throwing hordes at you

Use ZDOOM or GZDOOM, any good source port will work really, and then play it. Don't enable the jump or crouch features, they're source port features that aren't in the actual game and, jump at least breaks the games. You can enable aiming up and down if you want, but it's not necessary since the game wasn't programmed with that ability, it just uses hit scanning, shoot in the general direction of an enemy and you'll hit it.
I wouldn't suggest starting with WADs, especially not something like Brutal DOOM, they change things up too much, save them for subsequent playthroughs.
