I don't get why they want to tone down the collecting. Tooie didn't go overboard. It just had too much empty space. In DK64 it was only bad because you were forced to switch between 5 fucking kongs. That isn't an issue here, they should be cranking up the collectibles to Tooie level

I think Tooie doesn't get enough credit for the crazy amount of variety it had. And it was all quality, because it held up in the multiplayer imo.

The vast majority of late sequels/reboots/spiritual sequels get fucked because classic difficulty, physics, and mechanics are hard to replicate or evolve today. Modern audiences don't care, so devs throw all that good stuff out until there's nothing left.
Which is why I think YL has a better chance to be good than most. I love Banjo-Kazooie but the thing is, it's a modern game. The series is less about platforming and more about wandering around setpieces, meeting goofy characters and soaking in the atmosphere. There's not a lot of gameplay to fuck up. Even if the game ends up an eclectic mishmash of minigames, backtracking, and filler, it'll still be as good as Banjo-Tooie at least

Notes don't sound like feathers. They sound WAY more satisfying. Collecting feathers the whole game would not be nearly as awesome.
