I played Mercy quite a bit. I also played Reinhardt, but I didn't pick him up until the beta was almost over. I didn't find 76 that interesting and I can't snipe to save my life so I didn't play Widowmaker at all.

You can also headshot him because hitreg is super forgiving and then SMG him to death since you still out-DPS him at close range. To ensure that you can win the 1v1, you can also throw down a Spider mine by the flank you're shooting from so you get 75 damage on him for free before you grapple away.

When his ult is down, his healing is lackluster but his damage is crazy for a support. He works super well with a Lucio on your team, because no one will die and Zenyatta does enough damage to make 2 supports viable.

No, not really. The burst is the difference, and instead of X2 damage like Zen, X1.5 due to sheer range potential.
And healing bursts mean poor timing = dead allies, but can save in a pinch, unlike a Zen ball.

I played tf2 and like it a lot, especially before they introduced hats, so I assumed I'm gonna like OW as well. But it feels like a dumbed down baby F2P shooter. Especially pharah has such a low skill ceiling. I expected some cool rocket jump mechanics but got some lame hover stuff instead. McCree was fun as well pre-nerf and then they just made him into a spambot.

She's surprisingly hard to play. It's easy enough to aim her guns but the first few times you play her (and a few more if you're not so good at videogames) your blink is going to confuse you more than it confuses your opponents

They're pointing to those heroes. That means that the numbers are tied to those characters.
If they were just on the side, I would say nothing. But the indication is those characters, since Zen can also deal damage, but there's no arrow to him for it.

It was colourful, easy to jump, managed to get public matches to work together and combine their skills which I felt was missing from TF2 and it had a lot of polish. The hero theme feels really strong unlike in other MOBA type games where everyone is just korean mmo art.

It's a lot of fun because you have to focus on where you are in relation to all 6 players on the enemy team and all 5 of your other teammates. Winning or losing a round can be decided simply by you stepping a foot left or right sometimes, it's intense.

He does really high damage for a support and provides a really nice debuff that'll wreck enemies but his healing isn't as consistent compared to Lucio and Mercy.

Second worst hero in the game at the moment, behind Bastion.
They nerfed him along with Genji a while back because they were dominating everything. In the end they re-buffed Genji but forgot to do the same with Zen. He's fragile, does nice damage, but has no defensive capability and his heal is trash.

Mercy is actually doing a lot more consistently than either Lucio or Zen.
The reason here is that she has no offensive capability (her pistol does insane damage for what it's worth) and a limited defensive technique. You are ALWAYS focusing on where you are and what cover you have, you need to make sure you're in line of sight of your teammates, watch what they are doing to be ready to cover them, keep an eye on who is doing damage and who is going to ulti so you can power boost them, all while knowing where the enemy team is and keeping yourself out of their vision.
It's a lot to keep track of and it really shows you who knows how to play Mercy and who doesn't. The shitters pocket heal a single person and just stand next to them the entire time.

I've been in the closed beta since it started, Bastion early on was strong when he had a shield but his current incarnation is utterly useless. If you stack him with a Rein and Mercy all you've done is set up 3 of your teammates to be easy kills for the enemies, people who aren't brand new at the game know how to deal with bastion and aren't afraid of him.

It's more than enough to demolish pubs, but requires additional teamwork in comp/ranked to get working, and the initial fight is very difficult. If you aren't constantly rotating, you deserve to get wiped when they repush. As long as the flank doesn't overcommit to a 3v6, you can rotate to the point fast enough to participate in the fight (Seagull on Luminosity does this very well).

That's not fair to Mercy players. She's the most helpless hero in the game. No matter how good you are, you completely rely on your teammates for survival. You have to be close to the individual you are healing.
Lucio's area of effect healing is very forgiving. Even if a teammate goes out of range, it takes a few seconds for the healing to stop. His movement speed and knockback make it easy to escape.
Zenyatta just has to keep his eyes on a teammate to heal while his lazy ass gets eliminations from a distance. His damage is so good, you can even solo most enemies if you get the first hit.
If Mercy is attacked, there's no escape for her. You rely on your teammates ability to kill and positioning to fly. Smart players always target Mercy first. It takes skill to heal and survive as Mercy.
Towards the end of the beta, I started stepping up and picking Reinhardt more, and he really can be the difference between victory and defeat. Just sitting on the payload on attack or standing on the last point on defense magically seems to make your teammates play better. It's crazy.

76 is one of the characters most demanding of aiming (and management of bloom) in the game. He does shit for damage unless they're headshots and his hitscan is 1 pixel thin unlike everyone else who has lenient as fuck projectiles. His Ultimate is fucking useless against anyone except Tracer since it forces bodyshots and unpredictably switches targets.
He's a versatile motherfucker who can heal allies in a pinch and is more mobile than most give him credit for with rocket jumps. He's a team player character. Genji, Mcree and Hanzo are endgame "Longest Killstreak" Cardholders.

The bigger problem I have with her is that her close range combat is too good. If a flanker like Genji or Tracer gets on top of you as a Widow you should be severely disadvantaged in that fight, but you can easily hold your own. Not to mention she already has a built in countermeasure to flankers with the mine, and has an escape with the grapple.
Think about how the Sniper in TF2 is balanced. He is completely helpless in a close range engagement in exchange for the ability to kill across the map. His aim is thrown off if he is damaged while scoped. On top of that his rifle takes a long time to charge fully, and you are forced to unscope after every shot, meaning missing has consequences.

Hanzo generates a lot of pressure. It's easy to charge his ult thanks to the damage he can dish out. That ult will obliterate a turtle situation no problem, if even if it doesn't kill it forces the enemy team to spread. His scatter shot is great for clearing out hallways and his Sight is quick CD for scouting out buildings.
Hanzo is a Sniper but far better at offense than defense, the opposite of Widowmaker.

Symmetra made a turret nest at a chokepoint, shove one rocket/grenade in there and she just wasted 30 second of her time doing nothing, same with Tobjorn's turret. One person is taking the long route and hiding indoors to take the point behind your team, they're just one longe idiot waiting to get sniped the second they move out of cover.
Hanzo as a sniper is pretty garbage in comparison. His vision is on a longer cooldown and only shows a tiny area of the map. His mobility is far worse, can't fight in close range at all if you don't have the scattershot arrow on cooldown, and is far worse for killing people at long range. The only really good thing about him is his ult because you can shoot it from angles that make it impossible to avoid and instantly clear the point for your team.

Mercy is the Gekko Moriah of Overwatch. She is only as powerful as the zombies (players) she have. Also her ulti is more useful on ulti timers power struggles, otherwise in a normal situation if your team is overall better they won't need ress as they have enough time to try several pushes and if your team is worse they'll just die again. Widowmaker and the soldier makes sense, since soldier is the easiest hero in the game, and widowmaker is the only sniper.
Mercy is the best healer, and Reinhardt is the easiest and most effective tank to play.
It's a nobrainer really. People don't play an already watered down game to feel any sort of challenge. They just want the easiest heroes to reward them with kills. Thank god there's no scoreboard for the game though.
