Maybe in retrospect, but the day me and my boys bought TH2 for dreamcast and played for like 5 days straight was a long term best memory for me.
Love THPS1 all the way to Proving Ground, but for nostalgia and other reasons THUG1 is my fav. THPS2 close second for similar reasons

i mean all the tony hawks have good levels but some are just awful
i always tried to play them realistically but then Skate came out and i competely forgot tony hawk existed. i put so much time into the Skate demo since that was all you needed.

I've been playing thru them again recently for the first time for over 10 years and im on thaw atm too. thaw was the last one I ever bought. thaw itself is decent but the series slowly started going downhill thug2 onwards and then completely fell off a cliff after thaw.
I prefer the thaw story mode to thug2. I cant fucking stand the way the story mode is formatted in thug2. Its just all so vague and time consuming compared to thug1. but thaw fixes it a bit with a compass and you can quickly retry missions like in thug1
basically, thaw is alright. probably the last big tony hawks game. the games after it are the true shitty ones

If cultural trends are cyclical how long until the skateboarding and extreme sports genre comes back for real, and not just shitty half-baked attempts like THPS5? :(
3 is my favorite overall, but THUG is the gameplay pinnacle. THUG also had a good story mode. That's pretty bonkers for a sports title.

It's a tie between THPS 3 and THUG 1 as my favorites, The levels in 3 are the most fun and memorable for me but the mechanics in THUG 1 for high scores were what kept me going as a kid
