shameless Fallout ripoff that failed to reach the heights of Fallout 1/2

Because it's not great and it's not awful. It's middle of the road and that's the worst place to be when it comes to discussion.

Good game but missing a rat three times in a row at point blank with 95% hit chance every fifteen minutes isn't fun.

Just sharing my own personal experience with the game. You don't need to get your panties in a bunch, Hunter.

Sorry then. Felt it was going in the "RNG is broken" direction.

Go figure.
Anyway, does anyone know what the fuck is up with this cave? There are so many things wrong with it I don't even, but in all fairness I couldn't find anything interesting there.

Still, it keeps bugging me. It's possible that it's just slightly bugged, but...

Yeah, I swear when I wrote that it was still not there. It couldn't have taken me more than two minutes two write two lines.

Anyway, that particular cave is in the labyrinth, near the north-east corner. And it seems I'm not the only one who is confused about it, judging by this map.

There are basically three problems with it:
The hole on the wall looks like a normal cave entrance but cannot be interacted with. This is the only time when you see something like this.
You can click on some places in the darkness outside the map, trying to navigate there. Now this is probably nothing, but I haven't seen any other map where this happened to such a degree.
And three, the big ass rock in the middle of the room that you can barely even see without night vision is not actually there. You can walk right through it, stand on top of it, whatever. That particular rock sprite is pretty rare too, I have only seen it in places where water was transparent and the grid visible on top of it, like in the lake where the mushroom boss is.

Now these are not really big things. But having so many of them in one room is suspicious as fuck. Although I'm getting paranoid too, those two fucking holes start looking more and more like arrows to me the more I look at them.
>>
>>338196485
Do the puzzle, and bring TNT. If you are playing on easy that means you can use health hypos like every three rounds or so, right? Come on, you can do it.

No idea then. Maybe it's supposed to be a hidden entrance if you have enough PER but it's just a guess.

I do know there is pic realted hidden somewhere in the DC and no one seem to know its exact location, only that it's well hidden. Maybe it's related.
>>
>>338197426
That puzzle is really not as difficult as it seems if you read the instructions at residental building and write it all down.

I was prepared for a long session of trying different combinations but in the end it took like 5 minutes or less.
>>
Because everyone here who wanted to play it already finished it at least 3 times.
Also, it's hard to shitpost about it.

How do I into sniper?
>>
Just got to junkyard, met all the mutant acid dogs

about to continue my adventure, wish me luck
>>
>>338197727
Is it confirmed to be hidden in DC? By now I know that place inside out, but I never had a character there with more than 9 PER (with Junkyard surprise), and I'm sure there are secrets somewhere.

For example Mutagen Tanks A has some water tiles, right? Most of them cannot be fished, but there are exactly four tiles on that map where you can, two not even visible. Never got anything interesting though.

If it really is in the DC though, I think it's the tanks themselves you need to check. Some have holes on them, and Old Jonas specifically mentions that he entered some tanks through the holes when he was down there. My guess is that if it's possible, it needs high as fuck PER though, so I can't check it with my saves.
>>
>>338198305
Good luck, mate. You'll need it. Although you need it less than we needed it back before the nerf.

>>
>>338198290
I wrote that when it was still in Early Access but it still applies.

Basically stack critical damage and +special ability damage, max sneak, open with Snipe then make Aimed Shots every 3rd turn for a guaranteed kill on everything if it hits.

While AM is on cooldown either keep shooting or reposition.

Traps are very useful.
>>
>>338198305
What are you rolling? Well-crafted snipers and probably PSI won't have much trouble, trappers are a lot of fun. I really hope you brought enough ammo if you're a gunner.
If you're melee, I'm sorry.

>>
>>338198917
Also pistols are a very good sidearm for Sniper.

Use the same skill so it's ergonomic.

No melee/run penalty so prefect in tight situation where you won't be able to hit shit with sniper rifles.

No STR requirement so you can use them effectively when hit by STR debuffs that will prevent you from using sniper rilfes.

Assault Rifles are also pretty good, especially Steyr AAUG unique since it has no STR requirement as well.
>>
>>338198960
Out of curiosity, what was your original build? Also, if you have Tailoring, you can make acid-resistant armor out of acid dogs or siphoners.

How well do sniper builds fare without crafting?
>>
>>338199685
You need Hercules, all STR points, STR food and maybe Rathound Regalia.
>>
>>338199737
I ended up using Quake, I think?

Mostly because it must have been bugged and didn't have a weapon condition so I never needed to fix the goddamn thing
>>
>>338199748
Never tried because they benefit a lot from it.

Snipers want all the crit damage they can get and without crafting you won't be able to install anatomically aware scope for +50% crit damage which is quite a lot.

You also want be able to install rapid reloaders on Spearheads so no 2 shots/round.

I guess it would be doable with Dragunov for 2 shots/round and AWP for best +crit damage but it would be suboptimal.

But Snipers are among the best builds so being a little weaker won't be crippling. Go for it if youwant to.
>>
>>338200065
The 3rd one is basically an anti-psi hammer that drains 25 psi points or hit and has a 25% chance to prevent the enemy form using psi at all for 2 turns.

>>
>>338192412
eh, that's a bit harsh. it stands as its own game honestly.

the setting, only vaguely similar.

although it's the same genre and sub-genre, the gameplay is arguably quite different.

similar graphical style, but the graphics are actually somewhat inferior to fallout in some respects, superior in other respects.

in terms of fun, requires spending time with the game. good interaction and fairly good role-playing. problem is you can't really pick it up and play, a bit more so than even the first two fallouts.
>>
The trashmob density was too high for my taste. Many encounters in the game were very well designed, but the overall amount of meaningless encounters in-between made it quite a bit of a drag.
I liked what they tried with the oddity system, but I'm not sure whether it worked as intended. On one hand, it could have been a good way to not make experience rely too much on combat and reward exploration, but since a lot of oddities were gained from killing things, the player was eventually still motivated to at least kill things as often as he could pick up the oddities they'd drop. Especially when it came to humanoid opponents, I always killed them rather than choosing a diplomatic way out because one could never know whether they weren't carrying something worthwhile.
>>
>>338203367
>The trashmob density was too high for my taste.
The thing is while smoe encounters might be trash for one build they might be achallange for another. Not talking about rathounds etc.

>ut since a lot of oddities were gained from killing things, the player was eventually still motivated to at least kill things as often as he could pick up the oddities they'd drop
On the other hand in the traditional system you wolud be always motivated to kill things because it's the main source of XP.

While in oddity it's just a bonus.

Which is why I generally prefer systems where you're rewarded for completing quests rather than killing things.

Fags talking about how unfair and broken RNG is while in reality they simply don't understand the odds are not exactly rare.

This also has its flaws, as then you feel motivated to do every single quest possible regardless of roleplaying etc.

I feel both the oddity and the classic system come pretty close to it, though. You get exp for finding oddities, getting them through combat, but you also get exp for doing quests, and in classic for hacking and lockpicking too.

So it's not like you are forced to do everything. I'm fairly certain you can easily hit level cap even if you never get any of the kill-oddities.

Any words on a sequel or expansion? I will gladly buy it and play the fuck out of it if it will expand already GOAT psi system.
>>
>>338208434
They are working on "more content", whatever that means. Probably not a sequel, but expansion sounds pretty likely.

I don't think we should expect Underrail 2 before 2022 or something.
>>
>>338208434
Considering that literally everything wnded with a cliffhanger, it has to happen.

I hope.
>>
>>338208872
I wonder what kind of power levels we will ever see in expansion or sequel given that we're basically a psi god or one man army during the end of a game.
>>

>>
>>338208872
I don't want to sound pessimistic, but according to SteamSpy the game has 46,190 ± 5,271owners. Which does not sound terrible, but it also includes the three-year long alpha testing, during which the game was pretty much given out for pocket change in bundles more than once.
