I played Driod back in WotLK right before I quit. I hated raid nights when I had to spec Healing because it was literally the most boring shti in the world.

WoW healing is the worst compared to white mage healing in FFXIV. Blizz should take notes as to how natural healing mechanics feel in FFXIV. I used to be able to be quite predictive as a white mage, but I start to fumble in healing in WoW as the raid frames don't show the position of where your target is.

Why does every picture about this include a tank going "too fast"? It's almost impossible to find tanks going too fast in modern mmos, whereas you run into tanks who are slow as fuck daily.
Healing should be a more complicated mechanic than it is, but causalisation / non reliance. You have stamina during fights, and permanent damage that can't heal till you rest.
Status effects that cripple your character, lose eyesight by being blinded in one eye, 50% penalty. Lingering paralysis of legs due to electric current while fight thunder monster in a river, or arms.
Broken limbs after a battle that need to be set / exceed fighters natural recovery.
Without complicated or interesting gameplay due to hit detection / or cause and effects, you could get buy with the cost of healing items for time+effort instead in most games. But whats worst is automatic healing.

Take world of warcraft as an example. Playing a healer basically means you can get a spot in any raid group with the bare minimum item level because of the number of healers required, and the lack of healers available. It doesn't even matter if you're good or not.
You don't really get a say in much. You're not brought to the group because of your fuck awesome dps, since hps means jack shit, nor are you an awesome tank that knows how to lead and handle mechanics.
You're basically a girly boy in a dress there only to lather up stronger men with your heal spells while they ignore you the whole time.

Since tanks usually only have to worry about placement, direction, and agro we're usually the one to volunteer call out mechanic/phase changes
DPS is nowhere near as easy as people make it out to be, if mess up your rotation, timing on buffs, and positional. especially on bosses with tight dps checks and enrage timers if you don't kill them fast enough
when it comes to healers i simply don't know but they have my respect and are usually the one to get the party back up and save us from a wipe. besides. the difference between an awful, good, and amazing healer is always supper apparent

I'm at the boss, everyone is just fucking dead and they have to watch me solo him for 15 minutes straight because those retards didn't even try to dodge any attack.
I want my latest character in DaS to have healing skills but they require 36 and 48 faith and im not doing a pure faith build...either way this really screws being able to heal others early on.
I don't mind healing but I am drawn toward hybrid combo magic/divine characters lately, so its not my main concern to heal tank.
I imagine most people don't like healers because their offensive spells are either too conditional (kill undead) or weak compared to wizarding, which most pure casters would go for.

The only negative is your teammates can sometimes be entitled thinking you should be focused on them every second. Then it becomes your fault that they died, but you can take the criticism, you're built for it.

While levelling pre-50: Don't push your luck. Especially pre-40 on PLDs, you don't have Shield Oath yet so you're squishy as fuck.
PLD: Pull as much as you're comfy with and the healer can and WANTS keep up with. If he's going OOM keeping you up, that's too many. If he has to burn his mana regen skill, that's just a little too many, cuz he can't do that every pull.
WAR: As long as you know your cooldowns and limits, start slow then pull more based on the healer after a fight or two. Technically this is true of all tanks, you should never assume your healer in the random queue is going to keep up until you've seen at least one fight with them.
DRK: Please re-roll to PLD preferably, or WAR. These assholes are hard to keep alive in the first place, let alone on big pulls, just like DKs in WoW, they're tanks designed to outheal dmg, not mitigate it, which makes the Healer's job more panicky and hard. I hate healing these little shits so much.

Healers unfortunately are a dying class. Healslutting in FF14 is probably the best experience. You can go full heal/buffslut in Archeage too and afterwards get your brain fucked out in your own home on the beach.
Tree of Savior has a support class that has a skill that lets you setup donation booths, where you can accept donations like people jerking off to you. But that game has very limited customization.

I do. I pretty much always play healer. I'm a White Mage in FF14 even.
Nobody in my usual group ever wants to, while I always prefer it. I've even had a friend go from DPS to Astro and told me healing was way too stressful. Never seemed too bad for me, but maybe I'm just used to it.
