As a long time pc gamer, long time, the only pirating I used to do is abusing spawn copy's of games back in 1999 for LAN parties.
Otherwise I downloaded some music prior to Pandora / Spotify.
Is there actually such a big pirate scene that people are upset? Personally I couldn't care less. I make liberal use of the steam refund policy refunding no less than 1 game a month back to my card from impulse purchases. Is this the new shit posting meme ?

I'm a pirate and I'm happy that Denuvo wont be cracked soon. I love video games and morally, I know that the people who make them deserve to be paid. But pirating was just too easy, and it was hard to justify paying $30 for something I could obtain for free within a few minutes. As stupid as it sounds, the cognitive dissonance between wanting to see developers be paid, but also to save money by pirating was very stressful. Denuvo is going to take the decision away from me, which I'm grateful for.
The only thing I'm still upset about is that Denuvo is only being licensed by large publishers, who I don't care to see be paid as much. I want to see more reliable ways of getting money to indie developers. Recently I pirated Pony Island and enjoyed the fuck out of it. I honestly wish I didn't have the option to, because that dev deserves my money, but I know that I most likely will not buy the game from Steam now that I've finished it.

Denuvo is bad for customers. And I'm not talking about technical issues that may or may not be true
I'm talking about how devs can get away with even more shittier games now, here is an example:
New AAA game is released, gathers all hype in the world because PR guys did their job all too good.
"Reviews" are coming out as well, all of them positive and totally not paid.
People buying the game, It's good for a first few hours, then it's not.
You cant refund it anymore, because timelimit was passed.
You basically gave money to the shitty dev to make more shitty games, little hype drone.
There are some games that need time to accelerate to become good, and there are some that stop being fun after some time. Piracy is basically a demo. And don't tell me that "Refunds are demos too" because it's not. You'll get a warning from Gaben saying that you should stop trying out games that way.
Denuvo is just another way for companies to scam more money out of people
I know not all devs are bad, but potential fuckery is real nonetheless

I bought DOOM since I knew I'd like it.
I don't know of any other game that supports it that I've bought or pirated. Mainly because I wasn't interested.
So, at least in my case, they've gone out of their way to make piracy quite difficult on a games I wouldn't pirate anyway or was already planning on buying in the first place.
Meanwhile I've heard that it makes modding in the traditional sense quite difficult to near impossible hence snap-map for DOOM and nothing for other games using it.
Seems like a huge net-negative to the consumer but that's how anti-piracy measures always work out. A net-negative to legit purchasers. So, money well spent people Money well spent.
