The gameplay in this webm looks terrible. Why does he swing forward so much even though his rope went straight up? Why does he charge straight at a guy firing a machine gun at him? How can he survive being shot at by at least 3 dudes with automatic rifles while being totally in the clear and on open ground? Why doesn't he get shot in the back while beating up the first guy who just managed to miss him with every round in the clip? You can even see a red line targeting his back the entire time, how was that not a kill? Why does a truck exploding 10 feet away have no effect whatsoever on anything, the protagonist, his clothes, the other truck, the baddies etc.? Since when would a vehicle explosion not have shrapnel?

This bit was really neat to me. It's inarguable that the gameplay in the series is structured around one big glamorous set piece after another, but what if it were the other way around? An Uncharted game that did the whole "open world" shtick with, for instance, three large hubs, all of which interconnected with smaller set pieces would be really neat. Instead of the game leading you through the story, you'd have to piece it together yourself like an actual adventurer. By the time I got to Madagascar, I was tired of each and every piece of the puzzle leading to another shot out with lackluster stealth mechanics. Having the player actually get invested in the gameplay would rectify this, no? But then again, this would completely ruin the cinematic appeal the game has going for it and make it an actual video game instead of a grappling hook press X simulator.
