Interesting. I see a few possibilities of what this could be.
1. Older virtual console games like super mario bros, super metroid and all that good stuff.
2. Could be Nintendo's backup plan in case the NX doesn't work out. I've always thought that in case Nintendo went the way of Sega that they would develop for PC because they fucking hate Sony just that much.
3. They could just be branching out. I think they could conceivably tap the PC market without hurting their own console sales too much. I think it could potentially be a great move on their part.
4. It could be fucking nothing.

I feel like this goes in hand with the patent that went around a while ago about the "supplemental computing device".
tldr; a device that connects your NX online and grants it some extra juice. It sounds like something that could help nintendo keep their next gen consoles relevent in the marketspace without having to release an entirely new console every couple of years, and just letting people use this "computing device" to boost their NX console
