I actually bought Battleborn on a whim and it's pretty fuckin' buyers remorse. Queueing for 2 takes about 5 to 15 minutes to find a match and the most popular mode (the MOBA mode) has 2 maps and only 1 is preferred -- and on this 1 map that is played 99% of the time there is a fucking massive huge exploit where you can basically, from the safety of your own base, shoot their turret (1/2 the objective to win) from complete safety without needing any minions or etc. There is literally 0 counterplay to this exploit.
The PvE mode is actually a little bit of fun but the 1st chapter has so far been the funnest with the other ones just kind of being escort quests and defend the objective type maps with very uninspired bosses.
The gameplay isn't that bad, I mean it's kind of fun but the game is missing a fuckton of polish. It's playable .. for a free game. It honestly feels like I'm playing some sort of beta. The UI is cluttered as fuck and super jarring to be bombarded with all the information it tries to show you.

This all makes gunplay less important to winning, but it makes using cooldown-based abilities and team formation more important. In other words, individual skill has a lower ceiling than in TF2.
That makes it a bit closer to a moba than a twitch shooter. Mobas last because they keep updating and balancing the game, so in that sense it could have longevity. It just needs a lot more effort on Blizzard's part, compared to how TF2 could survive even if all Valve does is add hats.

I own no cosmetics for dota yet ive dumped 3k hours of game time in it.
Some games are just fun, even if its the small bit of content over and over again.
That said, i think overwatch has something going for it in the fact that it explores a new genre (or innovates the tf2 genre), either way its likely going to open up a whole new market niche.
Games like the stanley parable and to a lesser extent undertale has little content, on the scale of hours, and sell well.
Overwatch/lol/csgo/dota all share 1 vitally emerging aspect coming in modern multiplayer games: replayability.
Like basketball, football etc, you can play matches of lol/dota/overwatch again and again. There is a certain entertainment in improving onself at a game, and just like real life sports, one can dump thousands of hours in it

by gunplay I also include movement, so the combination of slower movement speed + infinite ammo means that you never have to think about that while fighting, which makes gunplay (as a whole) shallower.
I don't deny that individual gunplay is important, I was just comparing the depth of it with TF2 to prove my concerns with Overwatch's longevity.
I have similar concerns with Battleborn, but movement speed is a lot higher so I think it makes up for it.
