Patches download automatically, don't need to sign into PSN or anything. Pretty sure you can download packages to install the DLCs. And you can play online, but it's risky and I only tried it once with Dark Souls.

Because I don't have the equipment to do that and literally no company in my city will guarantee a reball. They'll just reflow it with a 30 day warranty. I already got more than that from doing a good heatgun repair.
If you like brawling adventure and japan play Yakuza ( people say start at 4 since 3 is not good for beginners(the first 2 are on ps2) however I started with 3 and liked it so however 3 is disc only)
MGS for stealth, get the legacy collection for every good game in the series on 2 discs(mgs4 takes up one of the discs)
