I play all my FPS games with the y-axis inversion turned on.

I traced it back, and I'm 95% sure it's because of Pilotwings 64. We got that game with the N64 at launch and it was the first game I played in 3D space. In case you haven't played the games, it's just a bunch of different flight simulators and they're all inverted by default.

I played COD for a while in college with my roommates and he would play inverted while I played traditional, and I eventually got used to it, but I definitely default to invert.
>>
>using WASD

>>
>>338098971
I've heard a bunch of different justifications for using inverted but the way I see it is:
>It's like I'm holding his head, I move my hand back to make him look up.
>It's not up or down, it's forward and backward, forward is down and backward is up.
>It's a third person camera, I'm panning the camera down in order to look up
VS
>I press up to look up
You're making shit way more complicated than it needs to be. If you have to explain why it's not retarded there's a decent chance it's retarded.

Inverted is if you feel like you're controlling the character and not inverted is if you feel like you're controlling a cursor
>>
Inverted for 3rd person makes sense if you think of it as controlling the position of the camera rather than the view of the character

I used to invert for 3rd person but I switched to standard after too many games I played didn't even give the option for inversion

Now I'm so used to standard I can't play inverted anymore

Honestly it's just really annoying, I wish the industry would adopt a standard and stick with it, for the sake of my sanity

I invert mouse and controller. It's from playing Wing Commander, X-Wing, Tie Fighter and Descent when I was younger. Basically, it's because of flight games. I can't get myself to not invert.

Either adopt a standard or always give you the option to fully invert controls. I played jrpgs that would have default inverted y and x axis. Then I'd play a shooter with only the option to invert the y axis. Shit just got really confusing.

I dont need to make it complicated. I just got used to it playing third person gsmes where its like im controlling the camera instead so invert everything just feels more comfortable for everything now. Games that dont at least give the option for it are horse shit

okay,

lets continue using your reasoning

>Jump
>press a button

you are using your method of controller as a object to dictate actions, not to emulate actions. So you press a button to jump/reload/punch instead of causing some kind of action to emulate those actions. So pressing up on a controller to look up is the only correct way. you have to dictate that the direction you wish the game to look, not emulate

I had to train myself to not invert the axis way back. My buddies and I would switch back and forth on the controller, and I would be the only one who would invert. Was a pain to quit out just to change; so I sucked shit for about a month on any first-person game.

Correlation =/= causation. Yes, being lefthanded is associated with greater rates of certain diseases and certain benefits, but it's not clear why, and it's certainly not just using the left hand, since you see similar rates in people who were originally left handed but forced to use their right hands exclusively.
