The multiplayer is a terrible Quake Arena copy and paste, so no redemption there. Snapmap is a joke.
The campaign is a boring and generic "clear the kill room" then move on mechanic, with a few bosses.
It's also not that DOOM used their own weapons, it's that there is literally nothing new, at all. The weapons are also weaker than their previous installments.
It just feels souless, and just a chance for Bethesda to slap their name on it to earn the money back that they lost on Fallout 4.

Basically he's the same Doom Marine from 1, 2, and Doom 64, he became so good at killing demons that even the demons fear him and he has divine protection so he can keep on killing the demons and hell cannot assimilate his soul so even if he died and went to hell he would just keep killing demons so basically the demons had to stop him by sealing him in a magic sarcophagus. Also he is super strong because he has divine protection and also he is powered by hell and rage.

A random UAC marine who, in his universe, cleared the Deimos and Phobos bases of demons and went to Hell to fuck their shit up. After he kills one of Hell's commanders, the demons kick him out and he returns to Earth only to find out it is also filled with demons. He kills them, and goes back to Hell to kick their ass once more and kills their big bad. He later clears out another UAC base AND also kills the Mother of all Demons in his universe. After fucking Hell's shit up for the third time, he decides to just stay there and prevent further invasions. Eventually, he gets blessed by a Seraphim with great speed and strength for doing God's Work, and the demons lock him up in a coffin to prevent him from fucking their shit up any longer.
Until another universe's UAC finds him, and lets him loose.

Domguy was a being from a dimension called Argent N'Dur, and a member of a demon slaying group called the Night Sentinels. One day, Argent N'Dur fell to the demons and was assimilated by hell. Doomguy was the only one of his kind left, so he went on a massive revenge killing spree
Eventually a single demon defects and helps him, constructing his armor while a Seraphim Angel (possibly also God) blesses Doomguy, making him an immortal badass. Doomguy is soo tough he kills the massive titan demons you see dead in hell. He's so badass that all the demons can do to stop him is build a temple, trap him in it, and bring the temple down on top f him, slapping him in a magical sarcophagus when he's knocked out. Eventually the UAC digs him up, which is where the game starts
