Getting the weapon is only a little bit challenging, nothing compared to what you have to do for Kimahri's or Lulu's weapons.
If you think finding the ultimate weapons are in any way frustrating wait until you have to grind for Luck to be able to land attacks on the dark aeons.
The chocobo race can go suck a big fat one, horrid controls coupled with the fact that the chocobo changes directions randomly, RNG dependant balloon spawns and birds that can stunlock you towards the end.

When I was a kid, it took me hours. Because I was an impulsive snot faced teen who just expected instant results. I played the HD remake last year and it took me about eight tries. Because I learned the pattern in the first two tries, then it took six more for the Chocobo Trainer to mess up and let me win.
Even taking your time however, its still a shitty mini game. And there's no excuse for it. Even overlooking how you have to wait for the Chocobo Trainer to mess up, the game itself feels like it was coded in less than a day. Invisible walls, texture clipping and bad Chocobo controls all make it harder than it should be. Its just one of the biggest examples of how SquareEnix will spend a month making a 3D model for a Chocobo, then only a couple hours making the controls for how it moves. Because gameplay doesn't matter. Only the visuals matter.

Stick to the right and if there isn't a balloon immediately after your first turn, reset. There are three possible setups for balloons, the easiest route has a balloon immediately to the right after you make your turn.
You can get 19 balloons on that route very easily, and there are fewer red birds as well.
Also, you're terrible at videogames if this is giving you problems.

Areas do have different spawn rates. There is a room where Tonberries are more likely to appear (but not just them - expect lots of Magic Pots as well). It's the green room a short way into the cavern.
There's also that golden bird that's rare in Djose Road. You can find them much more frequently in the sunny part where the road splits.

Its under water water polo. With a turn based system. Taking a sport and making it turn based is stupid enough. But to take fucking water polo? And not even modify the rules even a little? That's just plain laziness.
Then, when you actually try to 'get gud' at the game, its as shallow as a kiddie pool. Just take Brother, give him the ball and score 10 points a match. Everyone else on your team, including Tidus, just become passers to get the ball to Brother. Then in order to get Wakka's ultimate weapon, you need to just keep playing games until a specific league event comes up. Once it does, you just play it, get the ball, then never need to play Blitzball again. All of this can be done before Brother even hits level 20 in Blitzball.
And that's just the problem with the gameplay itself. Its stupidity tied to the plot is a whole other kettle of fish. Wakka and Tidus having to throw a game because Yuna got kidnapped is one of the dumbest plot points in a game full of dumb plot. Made completely pointless later on when you know who the Al Bhed are. It basically breaks the number one rule of writing, don't add something that doesn't enhance the characters or plot. But every time blitzball appears, it breaks that rule so hard, a Jecht Shot couldn't fit it.

I don't think Blitz is separate from the story. The mini-game is obviously completely separate outside of that one instance, but that's totally fine. It's a mini-game. Beating said minigame doesn't need to be central to the plot.
The game itself is pretty well tied in. It fuels Tidus and Jecht's relationship and also shades in Wakku's characterisation, especially in contrast with Lulu.

so I can understand your confusion. Zombie makes you immune to Death, and if you put reflect on her you she can't heal yourself. The fight is really about how well you can manage zombie modes (undoing zombie to heal but getting re-zombied before she casts megadeath again), hastes, and reflect shenanagins (things can't reflect twice, so if you reflect one of your guys and cast damage spells on them you can hit her with it even if she's reflected to stop her from healing).

Again, Blitzball as a concept might be tied to Wakka and Tidus (not to the religion though?) but the mini-game is totally separate. So your opinion of the mini-game shouldn't affect the actual story.

The point is that Yuna and all her story is virtually pointless in relation to getting the airship or fighting Sin. Yuna's story is about 15 hours of filler until you actually confront the church and learn all the truth. Then with this information, Tidus rallies the population and Yuna to aid him.
Basically, there are dozens of points across the story where Tidus could have been told the truth and come to the end sooner. But a combination of Yuna's story and all the people he encounters conveniently hiding the truth makes the game longer. In other words, tons of world building to make a weak story seem deep.

You 'could' have rammed Sin once the airship was up and running but you wouldn't have because you don't have a fucking clue that that would achieve anything. The journey is about summoning the final aeon, realising what that entails, rejecting it and then finding a new method. That's not a failing of the story. It's actually a strength. The characters didn't just go on a journey to get the airship and then use it to defeat Sin. They went on a journey, challenged their initial assumptions and sought a new way to succeed.
It's not the greatest story in the world but it holds up pretty fucking well against other entries in the FF series, regardless of how you feel about Tidus before he matures.

Tidus is a "dream of the Faith", which means he's an "Aeon" created without the willing sacrifice of a living being. As he never lived, he can enter the Farplane all he wants.

You don't learn the full truth until you face Lady Yunalesca. It's then that Yuna decides she will not sacrifice one of her friends and realises why Tidus and Rikku won't allow her to sacrifice herself. They reject the Final Summoning and it is only then that an alternate option is searched for. They have to face Yunalesca to learn about Yevon and leaving Zanarkand is when they get the clue that Sin is calmed by the hymn. Yuna's arc is integral because it leads to her rejection of the conventional way of destroying Sin. Without it, the characters randomly decide that this centuries old ritual is not the way to go, randomly deduce that they can stop Sin by getting inside him and deduce that the hymn will calm Sin without any real indication as such.

You can't predict where there'll be prior to starting the race. Better just to practice dodging birds and only grab balloons that are in your path. When you're good at avoiding birds, start taking more risks for balloons. You need to hit about 14/15. Less if you can avoid all birds.
One trick is not to go for the very first balloon because the trainer will almost always get it and push you behind her. If you run straight, you usually get a slight lead and can grab the other 3/4 balloons on the upper level. That helps a lot.
Making a tight turn is also important. More important than grabbing a stray balloon near the turn. Get that turn perfect and you'll have a good lead and can focus on birds without worrying about balloons getting snatched by the trainer.
Suggesting people win by learning balloon placements is pointless. Focus on technique and then, when the random chance plays to your favour, you can win it.
