right after that it's where the game start to be a lot more opens too, splits into several direction and have to acquire powers to progress similar to standard metroidvania

probably not just for you if you can't even figure out to revisit a side area in the current dungeon after getting the ability to wall jump

So did this game get ported yet? I'm interested to see what people on other platforms think of it. I was very pleasantly surprised by it, and even though I just got it as a way to hold myself over for Dark Souls 3, I think I liked Salt and Sanctuary better thanks to the Castlevania-style maneuverability upgrades. I fucking loved how by the end of the game I was dodging bosses' bullet hell attacks by walljumping and airdashing like I was Mega Man X or something.

The Greathammers are better. I took down the final boss in like ten seconds with the tier 4 greathammer, but during my first playthrough with the Jaws of Death, it took me about ten tries to beat him. A lot of late-game enemies have a pretty sizable amount of slash resistance, but not much strike resistance.

The most important thing to remember with the pistols (and even crossbows) is that when paired with a light weapon like a dagger, if you slash twice with the melee weapon, and then fire the pistol, the recoil will actually push you back far enough that you'll usually be out of the enemy's melee range, letting you avoid a counter-attack. They do pretty good damage, too. It's perfectly viable.

It's the strong attack while two-handing it. It's slow, but once you get the first attack off, you can just keep snipping away extremely quickly until your stamina runs out. The best part is that you can go into it from a roll.

The game was made by two people on a shoestring budget. It was probably never in the cards to begin with. Funny thing is, the PS4 version had a workaround with the Broadcast Play thing or whatever, but I doubt you could do something like that in this version.

You have to transmute a Greatsword at an alchemist with Wrathful Dead Bindings. The Wrathful Dead are those floating ghost things that attack by screaming. You can find a few of them in Hager's Cavern.

Pleasantly surprised by it, especially when the game starts to toss in the Metroid/vania-style movement power ups at you.
Only issue outside of the character design is that a lot of stuff is pretty damn overpowered and that the bosses I've encountered so far fluctuate greatly in quality.
Some like the wyrm or that knight at the beginning were pretty well done while the best tactic for others like the cyclops or the queen seems to be "fuck it, just slash at it, block a bit and heal once in awhile".

Still, for a game made by two people it's impressive as hell.

Classes matter even less in this game than in Dark Souls, since all of your stats are tied to perks you purchase on a Sphere Grid-like tree, and the only differences between them are starting gear and which two perks are unlocked by default. That said, the Knight and Paladin have fantastic starting gear.

To me, the most impressive thing about it is that it actually "gets" what makes Dark Souls special in the first place, unlike a few other knock-offs that just copy the stamina bar and checkpoint system and call it a day. And there are a few ideas that I'd love to see in actual Souls games, like how leveling up Covenants give you access to replenishable consumables. Having a lightning-buffing item that refills at sanctuaries like an Estus flash is fucking fantastic.

It's generally only useful on New Game + when you've filled out your tree and don't want to go down the Dex path for maybe one or two extra Strength along the way. There ARE little dots on the perks to denote how many times you've bought the same one, but they could have been more clear in explaining it.

Poison dagger builds are super viable in this game, smear some pessmud on a dagger and you can shit on practically every boss with it

That's pretty much what you're supposed to do. Go for whatever weapon types you like, because purchasing them will give you the equivalent amount of points in the associated stat anyway. Like, buying the Rank 3 Sword skill will also give you three points in Strength, and you've probably picked up some extra points in dexterity and willpower along the way. As >>338073518 pointed out, you can put up to five points into any of the basic stat nodes, so the only reason to buy new ones is to make a path to the next "big" upgrade, like higher-tier armor or another Estus flask.
