>>338053852
>Make a sequel that's better than the first game in pretty much every regard
>Proceed to make Dead Space 3
WHY
>>338053852
Maybe my shitty taste but I thought Halo 2 and it's multiplayer was the best of the series, in my opinion. =/
Games can't be objectively good or bad tho.
>>338055246
3 was to 2 what 2 was to 1.
>>338055232
I've played all 3 and 2 is my favorite
>>338055373
And your absolutely right senpai.
>>338055373
I can't process liking 2's campaign more than 1's. It was buggy and felt less open. And I went in hyped to play the E3 version of Earth just to get face fucked with something totally different and lessepic,
>>338055246
I still refuse to believe that 3 exists.
I also refuse to ever touch that abomination of a game
>>338055419
I didn't know it was possible to have taste this shit
>>338053852
Mount and Blade: Warband
>>338055246

>inb4 cover based shooter

>>338055232

I probably heavily biased toward 2 since I finish it before one, though replayed halo demo a lot prior to halo 2 release. I was kind of bummed that the E3 demo level wasn't include but I loved the map varieties included and the atmosphere it created despite the flaws which halo 2 had.
DS2 was better than the original. I felt like DS2 had more varied encounters while the first one eventually became too repetitive.
Also, the whole section going through the Ishimura as they cleaned it up was really, really well done. The atmosphere was spooky as fuck.
>>338055232
>Better combat thanks to an improved arsenal, actually useful kinesis and enemies no longer being bulletsponges on the higher difficulties
>Far more varied environments + setpieces and unlike the first game, it barely recycles any of them
>Has actual scares besides necromorphs jumping out of vents>Faster and more tightly paced
"No"
One of my stupid art teachers from AI:SF of California said sequels are bad.
This was in 2005.

I played Halo 2 before CE. At first I thought it was great, but I was totally floored by CE. Even the "repetitive" level design didn't give me a problem, as the spaces were generally (outside of 343GS and choice areas in PoA) very open and allowed for tons of experimentation. Replaying Halo 2's single player just felt constricting after CE. And while CE's single player might not have as tight a story as 2's, I feel like it easily bests 2 in the atmosphere department as well.CE is also, IMO, the only Halo game to feel anything like Marathon except for maybe 1 or 2 levels in Halo 3.
Just my opinion though. All the Halo games are great.

Deadspace 2 felt like the big Hollywood blockbuster sequel to an original film that wasn't any of that. First was neat, small and unexpected package and that's what made it great. 2 took things to 'the next level' in every regard and that feeling was lost and replaced with big Hollyood moments.
>>338055693
I get this is probably just bait, but 2 was actually a pretty fucking fun fps, not to mention coupled with stellar level design. That one school portion particularly comes to mind.
>>338057197
It is bait, but 2 isn't as bad as people say.
>>338056742
1 had that feeling for a little while, but its issues started to creep in pretty quick. the repetitive enemy setups and jump scares, awful turret sections, repeated environments and objectives ect. 2 might have lost some of that original charm/atmosphere, but it improved and polished the hell up on everything else.
Silent Hill 2
I miss the industrial vibe DS1 had over DS2s lean aesthetic, but otherwise I'd agree. Those graphically are aging really well; textures play nicely at 4K
>>338058817
*clean, sterile aesthetic
Devil May Cry 2
>>338055665
That's the fourth game though.
