Everyone loves Rocket League because Rocket League is great.
It can be frustrating at times to hop on teams with a couple of randoms, so I highly recommend you find two friends to team with and play ranked. It's cash
It's fun and the fun is multiplied for each friend you have

each player has the same exact car stats as the other so there is no pay to win or unlock to win upgrades
upgrades are purely cosmetic
you can feel yourself getting better too the more you play
you go from not even attempting aerials, then trying them but missing, then trying them and hitting, to trying them and scoring
also playing at 120 FPS is amazing

Easily one of the most entertaining games I've seen come out in years. Simple to learn, hard to master. The match making is aight, and you usually only have to wait 30s to maybe 2 mins to get into a game.
Also, cross platform support is great. Being a kb+m monkey shitting on kids using controllers is fucking great.

Picked it up and I'm constantly being asked to take my PS4 and controllers to friend's houses to play.
It's a good time with friends, you'll only get mad if you play online though.

Pretty much this except people come over to play it on my pc. It's been so long since a 4 player splitscreen game came out that was fun. I honestly only play it on the weekends if other people come over.

a few pros use kb/m. I actually tried it out a few days ago, and it plays really well. took a few for me to adjust to turning, but rocket shots are actually a lot easier with kb/m.

Like I said, it's different so it will feel kinda weird at first. It took me a few games to really get a hang for it. I'm sure it's the same on controller too though. Games like this just require practice to get a feel for the games.
I have big hands, so kb+m is more comfy than trying to wrap my ape paws around the sticks.
