Kega Fusion is an all in one Genesis emulator that seems really good from my experience.

I've already played Knuckles Chaotix on it, and I'm not getting the appeal of this game. I want to like the tethered character gimmick for pulling and slinging momentum shenanigans, but half the time it really does feel like you're dragging a ball and chain around. It kills the pacing for me.

No, the biggest tragedy of the game is how much potential it has.

You'll play it with a friend, and for the first hour or two you'll both laugh as you throw each other around and you have no fucking clue what's happening

Then, towards the end, you'll both understand the physics and you'll be doing cool shit left and right and be in full control of everything.

And then you realise that the game fundamentally has a really interesting concept and could have been really good. However, the stage design is garbage, the characters are INCREDIBLY imbalanced and everything is just generally not great.

It is a huge shame, the players tied together thing has potential for a truly unique and challenging multiplayer game but it will never be realised.

The random stage selection single-handedly breaks the game. Everything else is fine, but randomized stages by itself means the level design and difficulty curve are all over the place. The level designers can't make a logical difficulty progression and the game suffers because of it.

And while I didn't mind the combi ring gimmick and it has a huge skill ceiling, the option to play solo would have been a good addition.

The levels are awful and repetitive.

But holy shit is the spritework beautiful.

Definitely the most beautiful sprite based Sonic game.

It is hard to use but it is definitely skill based and creates interesting new possibilities for platforming gameplay

This was also a problem but the stages were fairly simple outside of amazing arena. Fuck that stage.

i personally hate the CD/chaotix stage design. To me it just looks like they hired a bunch of college kids to make 50 or so "unbelievably 90's" designs, and then just randomized where they put them in the actual stage. looks like hot garbage.

The artwork peaked at sonic&knuckles, imo.
