Whichever direction they choose with the reboot will kill a good chunk of its potential sales.

Devil May Cry vs Resident Evil. Such a godly idea.
One campaign where you play as Dante and Vergil, the other where you play as Leon and Chris.
One would be a tense atmospheric TPS, the other an over-the-top spectacle fighter, but both set in a crossover universe.

The only good thing about RE6 was the controls.
I had a surprising amount of fun with the game because of them. Everything else about it is truly awful though.
i'm so excited for this and the re2 remake
i don't know why because i didn't like re6 very much but i feel like capcom over the last couple years has really tried to redeem itself with the series
- REmake and RE0 were awesome on steam
- they actually announced re2 remake
- revelations 2 was actually pretty good
- they brought the re5 dlc to steam finally

Forced co-op is a pretty drastic change and has huge ramifications on the design of the game.
RE4 had one long continuous campaign broken up into chapters in a way akin to Acts in other media.
RE5 became isolated missions, sure they followed the same linear story arc but the ability to go back and redo kind of killed the whole survival aspect.
That's just one example off the top of my head but the game is filled with these decisions that were made to facilitate the drop-in/out nature of the co-op.
Coupled with the huge pandering to the growing bro-op crowd at the time and you end up with a lot of disappointed people.
People usually summarise it as a shit game, which it patently isn't. There's just some really funky decisions that got made which aren't a net benefit to the game itself, often detracting from certain aspects of the series, just to facilitate a shoehorned decision for co-op.
