Why is progression so satisfying?

Are we ever getting a new update?
>>
>>337919586
Didn't the devs say they stopped working on Terraria to make some space sequel or something?
>>
>>337919812
Is it 2013?
>>
>>337919079
Because it takes a while, takes some effort and delivers at a pace that is surprisingly gratifying

1.3.1 releasing soon
>>
What's the best way to min-max the first bosses for expert?

Are there multiple playstyles that can be utilized per playthrough, like summoning, ranged, etc.?

Is expert even worth it if not played past like early HM really?
>>
>>337919991
Just as well, it's the feeling of absolute nothingness that comes from the flat points -- very early game, right after a boss in prep for the next, et al.
>>
>>337920157
But that's just some lame wiring update.
>>
>>337919812
The Lead Dev did, but not all the other Dev.
>>337920392
At Least it mean that they not abandon the game.

progression is satisfying because it stimulates the reward center of your brain

you put effort into something, like increasing stat points

those stat points make you do bigger damage numbers while letting you withstand bigger damage numbers

so that boss that you couldnt fight a few hours ago you can fight now

you put in work, you got a good result. your brain triggers your reward center telling you you did something good

Depending on how often your reward center is stimulated outside of a video game environment, in the real world, it might be one of the few times you'll ever get to experience the feeling.

New world on expert, new characters.

Let's see how far we can get fucking around before Moonlord shitters come in and bomb everything.

Vague. Why? Can it be affected by diet? What are the most basic gameplay elements / ideas that potentiate playing more? Is the reward system split into external rewards like receiving items and getting achievements, and internal rewards like mastering the mechanics and winning against bosses? Which would be more sustaining?

I started a new game and started spelunking. It was hard/slow traversing caves.

Then I found ice skates which made me zip around in ice caverns. Then I found cloud in a jar (something like that) which enables me to double jump.

Because of the jar, spelunking became a hell of a lot easier. Little things like that feel nice.

I should cheese the game and generate a ton of small worlds so I can find a pyramid and hopefully a flying carpet.

a few years ago there was a game posted on /v/ that simulated the aspects of a JRPG simply by clicking on a bunch of boxes
some boxes represented bosses some represented smaller monsters or a sidequest or a loot item and you need to click here and there to get progression so you can have the stats to click a boss box without getting killed

a lot of people on /v/ finished the game and it took maybe 2 hours or so of clicking and i cant seem to recall what it was named

it was in japanese tho

I am about to beat expert mode for the first time, all bosses/modes. I am on the pillar event but just can't seem to kill the moon lord. Any tips?

You better have made potions up the ass, have the worm scarf, made the desert into a massive arena filled with sunflowers and regen items with atleast one roof to avoid the laser attacks, and good gear.

Ranged, get the Vortex and clorophyte, Phantasm can be whatever, melee, you better have both of the weapons and chuck the s+ear like mad, 15 damage per sec, if you are magic, I dunno, generally Nebula shit or the Alien laser gun, if you can hit it? Kill yourself if summoner.

NO game with progression will EVER be as satisfying as Haven and Hearth.

That's a god damn game where you can literally see, feel, and experience everything progressing.

I miss that game.
>>
>>337928565
Have every major potion/food buff you can have with vortex armor and clorophyte bullets with an arena filled with campfires, heart lamps, the dryad in the center. I need to make a roof though.
>>
>>337927890
Should be now.

Restarting
>>
>>337919079
It's not the exact same way every time I guess. The game is really easy and abusable, but it's also easy to not play like that.
A lot of side content that fills out the boring parts
>>
>>337928821
Roof it atleast in 3 spots, get every accessory you can reforged, and that Vortex beater better be Unreal. Other than that good luck anon.
>>
>>337929687
Thanks, and wow I am retarded, I forgot to reforge my Vortex Beater, thanks for the reminder.
