The invasion died with Archimonde and after the Lich King's powers started to wane so did his control of the Scourge, so the surviving human kingdoms in the south managed to regroup. The north got royally fucked by Arthas & Co, Sylvanas and her goons and all the random dreadlords vying for control.
The invasion got stopped before the entire continent was overrun and judging by Garithos' and the Blood Elves' campaigns in the north there seems to be some attempts at recapturing it.

Sargeras Corruption - Warcraft 3 - WoW - TBC
When the night elves joined up with the humans and their rabble we're between Wc3 and WoW.
The story of the games progressed and it happened after everything else had happened.
That is why the alliance is progression.
It is different from the draenei change, since we would be between WoW and Tbc in terms of story, but they go back and change stuff that happened even before wc3.

WoW started out what, seven years after the events of the Second War? Deathwing and Gorefiend wasn't in the picture then so there's a time window where Stormwind could've been rebuilt. That doesn't answer where the hub of southern human power was at the time but given that they scrapped having Gnomeregan as a player hub due to not wanting faction city imbalance it goes without saying they can't have a dozen human kingdoms and cities all over the place.

Especially if you're doing them for lore that's not true, since you can do the baby mode of the new ones. Most of the old raids can be soloed right now, and if not you can probably rope someone along with promises of pets and achievements.

Horde had pretty much the same level of bullshit as alliance.
Defias pillagers only really stood out because moonbrook is basically an outdoor equivalent to one of those impossible to solo quest caves that's present in every zone and a lot of people went in expecting it to be a normal quest area.
It doesn't help though that alliance players have always been babies. There's an elite quest mob in Durotar that has exactly the same stats as Hogger but no horde ever complained about it.
