I'm hyped for the massive amount of PCuck complaining threads when Nvidia downgrades their older cards for this.
>>
>>337909431
I'll wait for the 1080 Ti to upgrade.
>>
I think my 660 is slowly dying so I'm considering a 1070. The $ price tag looks really nice, I hope euros arent getting fucked
>>
>>337909431
Can't wait for the 1070 reviews. If it's even near as good as I think it's going to be I'm going to buy one.
>>
why is there plastic covering the heatsink?
>>
Reviews in 1 hour.
>>
Not false flagging but there is little to no point if you already own a 970/980 or ati equivalent. I upgraded to a 970 for MGSV but there isn't much on the horizon to upgrade for.
>>
>>337910278
I'm still on a 7950

I'm done with AMD
>>
>>337909608
any idea when they're going to roll out the ti version?
>>
>>337910278
Not really I have a 970 and im buying a 1080 asap. Itll run some of my older games better too such as gtav and shadow of mordor.
>>
>>337910467
in 2017 the earliest
>>
I'm going to upgrade from a 280X. It'll be nice to not have to worry that every new game won't be optimised for my card.
>>
>>337910467
Could be 6 months plus before release . Im not waiting
>>
>>337910538

I can max shadow of mod or with a 970. Look at your other hardware anon
>>
>>337910564
Its nice to see that Nvidia shady tactic actually work.
>>
Got an itx build so I'm waiting for a small firm factor release. I know this can take a long time, but I love my itx build so much that it's worth the wait. Until then I'll be using my 960.

even 980ti sli and titans cant max shadow of mordor out. Look it up before posting.
"Shadow of Mordor needs 6gb Vram to max out textures"

Its a die shrink Maxwell with a couple of tweak for vr and a cool aid for async.
Third party is struggling to meet the $599 msrp announced by Nvidia with most of the oc or advanced custom cooler will reach the $699 mark.

On paper GTX 1080 is expected to perform around 1%5 more than 980ti.
That image is pretty much close to what some analysis expect it to be.

There's a reason why Nvidia conveniently forgot that 980ti exist in all of their graph.

Didn't they originally say it would perform 50% better than a 980 or did I make that up?
>>
>>337911159
works on mine but not on ultra at 60 fps it dont.

970 is a mid ranged card now

Are you me ? Had crossfire 7950. One dropped after 2 years. Second died las Saturday. They had like 3 working drivers since 2012.Fuck AMD
>>
>>337911351

Not really. There aren't enough cards above it out right now to make it mid range.
>>
>>337911267
You are just salty as that 980ti you bought not that long ago has been superseded by a cheaper card.
>>
>>337911330
Which is why they include that shitty gpu in the chart.
Also, 980ti have better performance per clock compared to GTX1080.

>>337911325
Now that is unexpected.
That is a really odd resolution scaling.
Got any 1440p?

>>
>>337914696
That's the point of GPU Boost or whatever they call it. The GPU clock is increased until the card reaches its temperature target.
>>
>>337914826
Nvidia claimed 65° with an OC clock of 2100MHz during their presentation.
Actual review samples are running 83° even at stock clocks
>>
>>337914947
Nvidia had their fans at 100%.

>As Nvidia showed off the GeForce GTX 1080 at its press day in Austin, Texas, we kept asking ourselves how the card repeatedly showed up in demos at temperatures under 65 °C. In order to circumvent its thermal limit, we tried setting the fan to a 100% duty cycle, and that ended up being the simple solution.

>In our standard setup with an ambient temperature of 22 °C, we measured 68 to 69 °C. In another room at 20 °C, and using a less demanding Full HD workload, we finally replicated Nvidia's 65 °C demo. The noise that's created isn't bad when you're in a large hall full of journalists and EDM blaring over the speakers. But it's much more apparent in an office.

>And unfortunately, real-world temperatures after three minutes of warm-up look a lot different than what we saw during Nvidia's press day. It doesn't take long for the card to hit its temperature target and hover around 83 to 84 degrees Celsius. That number rises to 85 degrees during the stress test.

tfw i waited and didn't get a GPU for almost a full year.
>>
>>337915336
I'm so glad I skipped the 970
>>
Well, this is nice and all, but I'm not spending $600 on a GPU.

Show the 1070 stress tests. I'm betting on it roughly equaling or slightly beating out the 980ti, so I can finally get out and replace my 970. I don't do 4k gaming (yet, anyway) so price to performance is something of a deal breaker.
>>
>>337914696
Who cares about founder's edition when it's 100 extra for nothing?
>>
>>337909778
I'm in this situation only with an even older card. Been putting off a rebuild solely because I knew these cards were on their way out.
>>
>>337916395
What makes you think custom cards with better coolers and better power circuitry will be cheaper, let alone $100 cheaper?
>>
>>337916660
Because the MSRP is $100 lower, and graphics cards have rarely gone much above their MSRP. The one exception to this that I remember is 5850/5870 which were plagued by bad availability and went for $50 above their MSRP at launch and for the following few months.
>>
>>337916840
MSRP is meaningless if there is no reference model selling for that price.
AIB makers will want to sell the chips for a highes price as possible, so they will put them in the most expensive custom models first and then supply and demand dictates prices.
>>
>>337917134
>MSRP is meaningless if there is no reference model selling for that price.
There was no reference model for 970 setting the price.

The custom cards cost $330-350 at release. MSRP was $330.

At least know your history.
