I honestly have no issue with "Earthbound-likes" but this game does look like shit. EVERYTHING looks painfully slow, the main character looks like a pear shaped homosexual, the combat turns look like the take a life time, and the multi-colored noses on every single character look crazy awkward.
I don't know why Earthbound has such an insane following now. It's a fine game but I feel like people are going with the whole vibe as a means to avoid the atypical melodrama that plagues a lot of RPGs.

The game's art is not all that bad... Except for the tumbler noses.
Why with the colored noses? It's the lamest way to add color variation to a face in attempt to make the eye travel more for the viewer. There are so many other things that can be done to add variation.
