An Eldar scalp/hair piece I think.

There better not be only 3 factions at launch. Orks are fun but having the comic relief as the sole antagonistic faction just won't work.

Lets not forget that the last time Relic did orks they were dull and boring.

>Having the Orks as the sole antagonistic faction just won't work
It's worked for 40k for years in many stories. Not every war in 40k is about Chaos, Tyranids and Necrons. Pretty much all of them are about fighting Orks.

Not to mention Orks are REALLY dangerous when a competent Warboss is in charge.
>>

>It's worked for 40k for years in many stories.

I read helsreach and the orks in it were so BORING.

Then again everything in that book was as dull as a floorboard. Definitely dembski's worst book.
>>
>>337903519
Aside from obvious as fuck CSM.Fuckers pulled it off with Total War WHF, what stops them doing it in DOW3?

If they pull that shit off, I'd pirate it and wait for a everything in it bundle sale.

I just want base building back, more wargear and units.

Orks can be very interesting and intimidating as enemies, even if you aren't pushing their comedic relief side.
>>
>>337904102
The Orks in the Ciaphas Cain series was the shit.

>Stealth killing an Ork by shooting him right up the arse when he's taking a shit
>Getting the fuck away from the Orks by stealing one of their buggies and actually being able to ride it, because Jurgen is a fucking badass
>Had a duel with a warboss while being surrounded by Orks and Nobs. End up winning and starting a huge fucking brawl because now all the other Orks wants to be the new warboss, so they can sneak away unscathed.

What I expect from this game:
>Basebuilding like Dow1
>Proper cover like Dow2
>Wargear like Dow2
>Moral, retreat and suppression combined from both games
>Destructible environment like Dow2
>Better graphics, particle effects and animations

What this game will probably deliver:
>Excellent voice lines
>Great soundtrack
>>
>>337904673
But surely Eldar are your allies? We share common goals with humanity.

It's a comparison of a finished game to a game in alpha. Now I don't want to be one of those >b-b-but it's an alpha guys but at this point it's not worth complaining about. Not to mention that graphics are the least of your concerns for this game, namely that the basebuilding is good.

Nope, just Space Marines, Orks, and Eldar. Chaos might turn up in a DLC, though.

Granted, the skull fixation within the empire is kind of symbolic.
The skull is the symbolic shape of man. The skull is the head and the head is the face, the feature of recognition, encasing the mind and soul. Thus the skull is one of the outer-most features all men have in common and is one of the "unifying factors".

Not to mention it symbolizes death and shit, which is pretty damned common in the grim dark 41st millennium.

Personally, more of a fan of the aquila, ad mech and "I"s of the Terran organizations.
>>
>>337906395
>namely that the basebuilding is good.
Having basebuilding isn't that hard. Dow1 basebuilding was nothing special. It's just there.

>Not to mention that graphics are the least of your concerns for this game
So instead of grim, destruction and battlefield carnage, you prefer the cartoony starcraft shit?
>>
So if the Ork makes a small explosive and says to themselves "Diz bom ere will blows up an entire planet it will!" And they all think it, then they've basically made a mini planet destroyer?
>>
>>337907249
They can't will the universe out of existence or anything like that, more just twisting the laws of physics and that kind of thing. The average ork aircraft probably isn't aerodynamically sound but it'll fly. Their power doesn't get too much more amazing than that. Maybe they can also make shit go faster if they paint it red, maybe.
>>
>>337907249
The psychic fuckery doesn't go that far.
It's not like painting the truck red makes it go the speed of light, just faster than it normally would.

Less an "I win" button, and more a "I'm even with the other guys" one.
>>
>>337906926
All I'm saying is that if it looks the same 2 weeks from release then you'll have a point, but at this stage it's too early to judge the graphics when they'll probably change them thrice over during development.

>tfw done reading Eisenhorn and Ravenor and just started reading the Horus Heresy

Why can't I hold all this Dan Abnett awesomeness?
>>
>>337907560
I read a chapter of Eisenhorn and thought it was shit. Abnett's first person prose is weak and the 40k setting in general doesn't seem to work well in novel form. I've only managed to finish one, and that's probably because it minimized the 40kness factor and was more just trench warfare but the other side are big and green.
>>
>>337907494
Name a game that had drastically changed it's graphics during early Alpha?
Rome 2 was an abomination when it came out.
>>
>>337907669
Abnett makes the civilian life of the Imperium interesting. We have tons of stuff about the military and various soldiering organisations but it's interesting to see Inquisitor mucking around in Imperial and Alien systems.
>I read a chapter of Eisenhorn and thought it was shit.
Weird because tons of people think it's one of the best 40k novels around and I personally enjoyed it thoroughly. But then it's /v/ so I'm not surprised someone would deem something shit after an half-assed attempt to scrape the surface.

>Are there any good 40k novels that aren't about spess muhreen infighting with subtle hints of chaos corruption?
Eisenhorn and Ravenor, books about Imperial Inquisitors, so spies/detectives in spess. Also grey morality with chaos undertones.
>>
>>337907804
Read Dead man walking.
>>
What's the bet that all races will have a similar ending scenario where another pops up like Chaos or Necrons and then the player's race has to kill them because they killed most of everyone else

l2britishhumour, i bet you didn't even realize 1984 is meant to be funny. 40k should be Blackadder in space. It's all about that balance of misery and humour that's completely lost on America. Without the humour what have you got left?

A universe of stupidly big things killing each other with chainsaws indefinitely was never meant to be taken 100% straight.

How so? I thought I made it clear that both humanity and the eldar are, on average, dicks.

Humanity wants to commit galactic xenocide and establish a brutal theocracy across all worlds, and the Eldar want to solve their own problems at the cost of even the people who don't get in their way and then just go back to mindless hedonism.

Neither is compatible with the other.

The things you see in combat literally exist solely for that fight and are eaten along with everything else as the fleet digests the planet's biomass.

It wasn't dead before the nids showed up. I guess the nids were busy eating it before an Inquisitor and his tasty retinue showed up through a portal.
