This, the LotR 2 & 3 GBA games were licensed Diablo clones, great ones. PS2 entries were high tier beat em ups too.

After HP3 and the quidditch World Cup the games truly went to shit. I think they went far too close to the films in the later games, whilst the older ones were more their own standalone thing that was just sort of bundled in with the movies.
That or the series just became more about edgy teenage romance drama instead of dicking around with your friends and magic. HP4 really was the turning point of fun into shit.
