I had no clue he was a PvP enemy. First time I just fought his AI. Easy as can be. Second playthrough, I get this message that I'm getting invade. Whatever, i'll just rush to the boss fight. One of those critters do a corossive attack. My scimitar breaks. I have no backup weapons and no ability to fix it. I go to the boss room. Zweihander Monk with regen ring. I literally cannot do enough damage to counter his healing. Impossible fight.
My mistake for not bringing weapon fixing items or having a backup weapon.

A few years ago I went into Demon's Souls completely blind having never played a Souls game before. I could never understand what the fuck world tendency was. Shit I didn't even know it was a sort of multiplayer game until an invasion happened like half way through the game. Dual audio isn't as easy as people would lead you to believe. The contracts with japanese VAs have to include it up front and they sometimes want compensation on the back end of the release. If you are using well known VAs it's just not worth it for the relatively small pool of players who will actually use it and care about it.
That said I don't actually know if Persona 5 will have dual audio but I hope you realize there are lots of reasons games don't ship with it these days.

That's entirely different, Scholar of the first sin was a repack of all the DLC and patches combined into one entry and was a scheduled release, it made no sense to release this extended cut on a PS3 when it was winding down as a platform, if you look at the difference between the PS3 and PS4 version, the resolution is better but that's it, they didn't re-make anything for it, and porting was easy because PS4 architecture is extremely close to the PC one, which they already had a version of.
The reason they're not doing Demon's souls, the reason they don't do remakes is that cross-architecture gap means they have to rewrite most of the code and remake all the assets, even if they can port over shit like walls and barrels and lamps from Dark Souls 3, and even though they can do everything in that engine saving time, just the sheer amount of work required in making all the assets unique to Demon's is staggering.

I don't think most people know just how mindblowing DeS was when it first released. The game started off fairly grounded, you kill a few humanoid enemies, then suddenly you're getting flattened by a gigantic monster (for 99% of first time players at least). The game progresses, so you think "oh, that must have been a late-game boss that I was supposed to lose to, that I'll fight again powered up later". But you never really get a huge powerup. Before long, you're taking down things like Vanguard on a regular basis using nothing but normal human tactics. You never get a super anime powerup that lets you leap buildings or fly, you just learn to dodge, block, and time your attacks.
DaS's original playerbase was mostly DeS players who already knew the drill and by the time the PTDE was dropped everyone had bought into the "hardest game evar!" meme to get that surprising feeling of beating back monstrosities using slightly-above-human capabilities.
Yeah, the gameplay was more refined by the later entries, but they never really recaptured that feeling of realizing you're surmounting the impossible, because by then it was what the series was known for.

Demons Souls is not refined at all. They wanted to go out and make a cool Action JRPG, and that's it. They put no thought whatsoever into balance or PvP because those aren't classic JRPG trappings.
This cuts both ways. On one hand, the PvP is shit. On the other hand, the game actually had a sense of wonderment, letting you get items like Storm Ruler and the Thief's Ring.
It can't really be called the best or the worst, because it was the first. Formulas were applied afterwards and all the rest show that.

In 3, the ONLY two options you have when starting a new game are (after fighting tutorial boss)
-Fight Vordt
-Fight the Dancer (which you have to either abuse the swordmaster glitch to beat, or be really fuckin good)
Even if you beat the Dancer and proceed through Lothric Castle, you can't enter the Archives because you need to kill 3 lords of cinder first. So no matter what, you have to go back, fight Vordt, and kill 3 lords. The severe lack of sequence breaking makes it worse than 2
