I loved the Argent tower. Started off like the facility and then the climb up the tower gave a sense of verticality I never knew I wanted in Doom.

Personally the multiplayer is fun as fuck to me, it's a refreshing change from Battlefield and Halo. It's not quite as revolutionary as Splatoon, but it's really not like other fps games. The beta was bad, but release was great. I don't really give a shit what turbo-neo /v/ fags say who literally have never seen a floppy disk, this new Doom is pretty great multiplayer wise.

The campaign is cool if that's your thing. I grew up on UT and Quake tho so I don't give a shit about campaigns.

My big issue with the multiplayer is how imbalanced and steamrolling demon runes can be, and that you select your two weapons prior to match start. That kills a lot of what made classic Doom/Quake memorable. Not much to fight over when there are no weapons dropped or spawned in the arena.

Prowler is straight up broken on the small corridor maps. They need to tone down Prowler, and maybe do a slight nerf to baron, others are fine. I am not a fan of loadouts either and I severely do not like that there is only 6 loadout slots in the first place. It's a nessicary evil to reach out to the casual audience, devs simply aren't going to give us Quake ever again. If there was one thing I could get rid of is loadouts.

It's really just an arena shooter in an age where there isn't anymore fucking arena shooters. Titanfall is the closest thing to Quake these days and now we have this new Doom. I really like the multiplayer, the people who are hating on it are either singleplayer-only homos or CSGO 3,000 hour faggots.

SS has more spread and with full upgrades penetrates, making it a more crowd/AoE oriented close range weapon, it still packs a punch and a half, only difference is that so does the normal shotty and a Charge Burst that stacks the mastery perk for the normal Shotty, making it one of the most versatile weapons in the game.

SS is still a very good weapon, but i use it more situationally.

I'm also of the minority in liking the Multiplayer. It literally plays like Halo with the speed turned up; which makes sense, being developed by Certain Affinity. I wish their weren't load-outs and that the weapons were placed around the map, but whatever.

If you want classic arena multiplayer in a shiny new engine, I'm definitely gonna shill UT4. It's in pre-alpha, but it's already fun as fuck.

The impression I get is that they've made the engine and the tutorial, it's free, and the community is given the tools to do the rest.

Follow them on Facebook (or whatever else they're on), they've got some awesome dev vlogs discussing their random tinkering. They've set up maps where you can control a node that fires weapon turrets where your cross hair lands, and certain doors will only open for you.

They're also still doing texture and coding work though, so idk where they stand in terms of their development.

Plus they're already doing plays of the week and the trickshots some players are already pulling off are fucking ridiculous. It's like the cuhrazy FPSs of old, but even better

I never understood people complaining about the speed when speed was NEVER a part of Doom. I think they must have been projecting their memories of Quake on it.

The only thing I don't like about it from what I've seen is the soundtrack is more hardcore metal/industrial than heavy metal, which I suppose makes more sense in modern times, but it doesn't have that punch Doom had.

I'm not spending $60 on it when there are plenty of WADs I haven't played, but it looks like one of the few modern games I'm interested in getting eventually.

No, most people who grew up with the series thought that it was fucking awful, myself included. I just beat the campaign for the second time, this time on Nightmare.
It is bloody great.

I died so many times from sneaky gits who flanked me, or just by not being fast enough to keep the deamons off.
Running around, shooting missiles, shotgun blasts, gaus bolts etc, at fuckers, while performing the occasional glory kill to get a speed boost (I had that rune that did that), was intense as fuck, and also amazingly fun.

Archvile's gimmick is being able to raise dead demons. Since the bodies vanish, archvile can only run around and set you on fire, which is basically what every other enemy does. If you base it off the achievement that unlocks at the end of the game, and that's a pretty loose thing to base it off but for the sake of conversation let's go with it, They're treating this game like the first episode of DOOM and the sequel will be episode 2.

The real reason Archviles and Pain Elementals aren't in the game is technical reasons. resurrecting and having two enemies types that can spawn enemies would most likely affect performance.

The things you can do are pretty good, using a little imagination, you can do a lot through trickery.

Although you are limited to 13 enemies at once, you can cause instant respawn of killed hostiles, if you set spawns to do so.

Are you fucking kidding me. Truly spoken like someone who never played the goddam game or has no understanding of gameplay mechanics. There's a huge difference between 13 enemies in a room and 13 active enemies on the entire map.

You can easily have 13+ active enemies in just about every single map in both Doom and Doom 2. On top of that there are levels that throw a lot more than 13 enemies at you all at once. Off the top of my head just in Doom 1:

>E2M1, E2M2, E2M6, E2M7
>E3M4, E3M5, E3M6, E3M7

And Doom II had way more levels with giant clusters of enemies, Map 10 and 18 in particular.
