The girls have twice the dimensions and the game is seven times as long. Rune Factory 3 was good and insane waifus was novel, but you engaged repetitive grinding mode with no actual content thirty hours in. Rune Factory 4 was better and for way longer.

I'm playing RF4 on hard and I usually hate bringing party members but the projectile spam in the Lava Ruins is killing me. Seriously, those flower-like things shoot 3 projectiles at a go, and the room can be filled with 6 of those fuckers in addition to the lava traps. Fucking ridiculous.
Also, best girl in RF4 is undoubtedlyLin Fa.

I think you're still vulnerable at the end of it, but you can use it to go through things pretty well.

It makes me think that people ONLY rate the games via waifus. RF4 improved the mechanics, had more QoL improvements, developed the characters more and was 3 times as long as RF3. Even if you don't like the waifus as much as 3's, 4 was just a much better game overall.
How the fuck do I into combat in RF4? I feel like such a retard. I was doing just fine but then I'm in a cave with like bees and shit and I'm getting my ass kicked.

Hard mode? Combat in RF is extremely gear-dependent, so upgrade your equips. Bring 3 food items everytime you enter a dungeon to replenish your RP. Make healing potions (until you get the spell Cure), roundoff and para-gone with your medicine table.
As for fighting, circle around the enemy until they fire off their attack, then dash attack (or not, for example, I don't like the dual blades' dash attack but I like the fists' dash attack), press B a few times, but if you cannot kill the guy in one combo (which you'll know from experience), you need to dash out to avoid the counterattack.

Other villagers have to have three hearts before they allow you to turn them into followers. You can make weapons and armor to equip your followers. And early place where you can level up your followers that is low on level is the Idra Cave

Giving equipment to followers is like giving them gifts. You can get the Flash Strike rune ability from one of Forte's requests, the one where she asks you to raise your weapon's level.
