About to make a switch from PM to Melee, who should I use? Leaning towards Jigglypuff, since aerial mobility's always nice to have. Used to use Ness in PM.
I hate the changes to controls involving smash attacks in 4. I don't want the C stick to produce charged ones, and I think it's too easy to do it the stick+A way.

Mainly because it feels the most fluid and responsive and there's lots of tricks I've yet to learn/master, partially because the competitive scene for this one is better, partially because I already have some familiarity with this game so I'd rather keep working at it than start from scratch.

I'm 100% a scrub, but i picked up Ganon against my mates after discovering how deep the Melee scene was, and finding noob Ganon unbelievably terrible, i decided find out how to make him good, so all my thoughts stem from BizarroFlame and Kage's matches, but here goes some thoughts.
*chain grab is underused definitely, and a grab to a read fair/aerial is pretty decent finisher
*Biz's wavelands and ledgedashes are the stuff of legend, but he often falls onto using them FAR too much, and uses Jab too much over ftilt and maybe (not the best option all the time but should still be viable) dtilt
*though he isn't the speed monster Falcon is, no player should feel safe being above Ganon with his uair, which when combined with his SFFL is very intimidating and useful, let alone reversing it for cheap gimps
*up-B OOS shield (aka level 9 CPU tech) is also underused, seeing as how it can be moved to either direction
*edge guarding should be any Ganons strong point, what with a semi-spike reverse uair, and strong fair, bair, and not-completely-terrible recovery for going out there
I've commented before that a top 8 Ganon has Kage's fundamentals and discipline, but Biz's movement and willingness to play for the risky dair and style-first but without trying for the "lol I'm just gonna but this utilt out and lose my stock if it misses" BS that often comes out.

Now, I have been using Ganondorf against my brother lately, and he cannot seem to beat me. We think we know why, and we think it puts Ganon at the top of the tiers. I will be brief.
Ganondorf has his air forward. We call it 'The Punch.' It has that special hitbox like a sword, hence it goes right through anything except an attack with that same type of hitbox. It does 17% max, is relatively fast executing, has basically instant recovery on a barrier cancel, and is quite massive, killing at rather low percentages.
If he misses, he can just do his A punch if the opponent tries to retaliate, or shield/roll. I am telling you, Ganondorf is a crazy meat mountain who crushes bones with many attacks doing 15+%, survives to insane damages thanks to his weight, and has ridiculous horizontal recovery (Double Jump, Ganondorf Kick Down B, ANOTHER Double Jump, ARE YOU SERIOUS, Up B).
Next, check his roll. It goes like half screen. It makes him rather fast, nearly eliminating his speed problem on the ground, and a great character when it comes to the defensive game. It pretty much eliminates the need for his wavedash, which, with Ganondorf, who needs to do most of his attacking from hops, is pretty much useless already unless you are looking to smash attack. Wavesmashing, however, in my opinion, is also a bad idea, because, in the time and damage it takes you to actually land a smash, you could have just used The Punch and killed you opponent by then.

every character has options; some better, some worse. ganondorf has edgeguard potential, kill power, reliable grabs, and semi-useful oos options. everyone knows that. why is he underutilized/underplayed?
he's still not good; in a game where movement is king and the ability to switch between options and choices on the fly is the mantra by which players play, having a slow burly punch wizard is a hindrance by the sole fact that he is slow and burly. DK has 100% death combos on most characters off grabs, but has such problems getting into those situations under pressure that he flounders in high-level play. ganondorf is the same. within the realm of human possibility, it's entirely possible for any character to succeed, but it's much more work and effort for the same result, especially if people are just playing for the love of the game

Because that feeling you feel when you finally start getting a specific tech down or when you start incorporating techniques into how you actually play in a match. Shit's amazing.
I still remember the moment when things clicked and I began to combine both dash-dancing and wave-dashing into my movement, the game got 20x more fun from that day forward.
Also when I was new to competitive melee, I could barely even short-hop with a character like Fox, now I can perform wave-dashes and short-hops with him consistently, and I don't even main him.

I highly suggest against it, try to find as high as a tier character you like and main them. As a luigi main you have to expect a lot of disappointment but if you're willing and no one else appeals to you go doc. I don't know ganondorf's frame data but I figure the jab is often used because your opponent will be able to punish more laggy moves if you don't land them. ftilt might be safe if you space it right and grab is good if you think they will shield. Like most (non-top tier) characters, ganon doesn't really get much off of a single hit and he gets punished horribly if he whiffs, but there's not much else you can do. I think all the fancy tech is actually kind of important as it makes ganon more unpredictable and threatens more space, so someone like Kage would actually benefit from working on that stuff.

You have to have really good synergy and awareness. There's a reason PPU is one of the only Marths who stay Marth on doubles. They're both kind of defensive characters as well, you don't see Puff or Marth push the assault very often on teams. If it works more power to you, but going off knowledge you'll run in to some problems.
