I remember him saying he got his legs smashed but I don't think they were broken. And when you target him in vats you see his legs are just barely not crippled.
I mean, you're fine with the Courier being shot point blank in the head and buried alive, dug up by a robot and miraculously healed by some random doctor who probably has less medical training than a field medic, but this one particular faux pas is over the line? Caesar's Legion being entirely nonsensical notwithstanding?

Minor quibble, but he was born, raised, and probably trained in a vault. He has all the medical training of the old world.
Granted, I don't know how far that goes when your medical tools are probably limited to scalpels and sponges, but New Vegas seems to have a thing for badass people being unreasonably hard to kill so I'd just let it go.

You can walk on a broken leg, provided it's not a major bone. I broke my fibula and walked on it for awhile before getting it checked out, but in Boxcars case, his legs were probably fucked
