>There are ancient times strategy games
>There are Medieval strategy games
>There are New World colonization strategy games
>There are imperialism/Great War era strategy games
>There are WWII strategy games
>There are barely any Cold-war/modern times strategy games
Why does no one want to make cold-war era games?

the cold war wasn't an actual war, just a series of proxy wars.
That's why many people will tell you that the cold war hasn't ended.
it is a good question why there aren't any Vietnam War or Korean War vidyagames though
>>337625616
wow because then that'd imply that nations exist as anything more than lines on a map in the modern age which is obviously bullshit.
because the cold-war/modern times are all about avoiding war
You know, say what you will about the most recent master of orion but I actually really liked the lore for humans being the diplomacy oriented race being that humanity was unique in developing nuclear weapons before a hegemonic world goverment so nobody else ever had things like brinksmanship and proxy wars.

>Vietnam
Because we lost. There are a few FPS games set there though, and the first COD: Black Ops game had a few levels there.
>Korea
It's not called the forgotten war for nothing. Most people here don't even realize it was even a thing.
how about a cold war game where you play as an Afghani soldier fighting under Osama Bin Laden against the Soviets?
World in Conflict was god tier
>the steam release is broken
>fix never
>Strategy game where you release propaganda and conduct small-scale offensives in distant lands for an indirect and abstract goal
How would they even pull that off
There are quite a few nuke simulation games
Wargame series, RUSE

It would be boring as fuck.
It would just be a constant balancing act with little to no action.
You might as well make it in twine and select options and hope that you don't fuck up.
