Can we get a Doom thread just with people's first impressions? If you're not playing the game and just speculating visit the other three threads. If you're enjoying or not enjoying it please explain why
I probably won't be buying it as it's $80 here, and doesn't look like anything special to me
it has unfunny Memes
It's a 10 hour fast paced shooter which doesn't do anything new but is pretty fun to play because it sticks to traditional FPS mechanics and has an appropriate amount of challenge. Probably worth around $40 if you're quoting Australian prices here.
>>337571395
It's great, it's fast, combat feels good, weapons all feel good except the pistol, enemy variety is fun. Feels like a good attempt at a modern doom.
That said, don't buy it for full price. Do what I did and rent it for a day at redbox. I'm like 5 hours in on chapter 9 of 13 and it only cost me 3 dollars, totally reasonable. Just save your money.
>>337571450
Jesus Christ
It's not great. It's decent I'd rate it 7/10.
I'am at the hell levels right now.
It's certainly not as bad as Doom 3 but you can still feel the consolization. Weapon sounds are shit too.
Worth 30$ I'd say.
Played it for an hour on steam and got a refund, was digging the story and however everything looked but the guns seemed lackluster. There was no distance on the shotgun and everyone seemed to move slowly. Not low fps but it didn't play like a fast paced shooter.
I can see why people like ti but I prefer something a bit more fasted pace like TF2, old doom, and overwatch.
>>337571756
I will literally pay you $20 right now if you can name a single FPS that has come out in the past 3 years which is more enjoyable.
>>337571760
>Plays the first two levels which are completely unlike the rest of the game
>It's not fast paced!
You really are a fucking idiot
>>337571840
It's 5 years but E.Y.E, gameplay felt more like Doom to me.
>>337571906
Okay guy, so how are those early maps compared to the later ones?
Is the single player level design decent? I'm more curious about that than the gunplay itself
I am personally loving so far, even if the beta left me uninpressed.
I just adore the way Doomguy simply does not give a fuck .
>>337571840
Not that guy but I really enjoyed the new Wolfenstein game. Really well done. Haven't played Doom yet though.

Guessing it uses Denuvo?
If the game gets a construction kit or becomes at least as moddable as Skyrim/Fallout:NV then I will buy it right now and tell you about it
>>337572598
Any FPS that put emphasis on melee combat is shit
>>337571395
I have been playing it on the hardest difficulty (equal to original doom's Ultra Violence)
The game is completely misunderstood. Everyone comments on how fucking easy it is with glory kills that give you HP and make you invulnerable, but the amount of ambient HP recovery items you find is fucking scarce. Not to mention the fact that the Enemy AI is ridiculous. If I have full armor, and a wave of Imps spawn and I get hit by 3 fireballs I'm dead. In Doom1 fireballs only do like 10 damage.
Not to mention that enemies can walk anywhere, change their rates of fire, and move in patterns to circle you, which makes the game fucking ridiculous.
I can Play Doom1 and almost never need health or have a struggle except on Nightmare mode, the Ultraviolence on this new Doom is insanely fast paced and difficult though and I am having a blast messing with the weapons.
My first impressions were that the game has a horrible release and I can't play it at 3fps with 12gb of ram and a quad core processor
>>337572262
The game has a lot of exploration. I was getting lost a little, but the game certainly isn't "linear corridors connected to arenas." Lots of verticality, jumping around to get to different parts of the levels. I was surprised to find this much platforming. When it comes to the levels functioning as shooting arenas, Doom is great, clean shooting lines, and good angles of attack. Monsters also use the world effectively. Imps tend to like to attack high and from a distance, hell knights charge right at you, shotgun monsters keep a reasonable distance but shield guys close in on you. It can definitely get hectic, but you're incredibly mobile so you you will be running and gunning. Its pretty fun.
The art direction is nothing special. I mean, it is your standard hi-tech space industry you've seen in what feels like every game. The game has a clean aesthetic but nothing at all special about it except for neat lighting. I'm playing on PC and after finishing Uncharted 4 and playing a lot of new Ratchet and Clank I'm totally underwhelmed.
The first couple of levels are slow, with excellent shootouts sprinkled here and there. Hell certainly pics up the pace. I'm on the first hell level.
So far, it is easy to recommend if you like FPS games, especially given that it is not a corridor shooter and so many FPS are basically corridor shooters.
>>337571906
Played the multiplayer as well shit head just in case that was it and it was still slower than what I expected.
>>337571395
How is the multiplayer? Is it just as shit as in beta?
I'm going to pick up a key when paypal updates my money.
Seen enough to convince me it's decent.
I don't really know about the performances tho, but since its 60 on consoles i can assume its not going to be a problem right ?right ?
partway through the 4th level, in all honesty it starts off slow but its getting really good now.
The shooting is FUN.
not tried MP yet because I cba setting up controls.
playing on a 380x and it runs max 60 to 80s, no screen tearing or any of that shit.
>>337573373
Yep.
Still a really bad Halo 5 knockoff with elements stolen from Battlefield.
>>337571395
Played for roughly an hour and ten minutes.
Game's beautiful and both the environment and map design has a fair amount of effort put into it, impeccable voice work from that robot guy but at its core the game, at least to me, is just boring.
Maybe the whole "run and just kill everything isn't for me", but rarely did I, if ever, feel pleasure when gunning down a group of demons. In that sense, the game felt somewhat empty.
Power to the people who are enjoying it, though, I'd been hyped for the game for a few months and was hoping to enjoy it, but I can't name any stand-out flaws that would make me want to criticize it heavily just because I really just could not have fun with it; nothing more.
>>337573373
I don't know. The connection was smooth, the weapon balance needs some work (chaingun is super strong) and people are already running around with high level revenants that have huge AOE attacks. So there are some balance issues.
But it is certainly entertaining. Good level design so far. I mean, as long as there is a community I wouldn't mind playing some Doom multi, but I probably wouldn't miss it if it went away. I think they should add bots.
>>337573893

>>337573885
>elements stolen from Battlefield.

GTX 780 with 3.5GHZ 4690k here. I don't have the latest drivers.
I'm hearing all over the board stuff. I'm playing with max texture resolution and roughly everything on medium with TAA. I'm basically getting 60 FPS though everyonce and a while a dip into low 50s. With all the motion blur you don't really notice it, I just happen to be playing with the FPS counter on cause I wanted to fine tune settings. The good thing is you can chagne a lot of settings without having to restart the game (yay!). But the game still looks very clean and the lighting effects are still really nice (the colors bounce of monsters when you shoot).
It will be interesting to see what the graphics options really do. Hopefully Nvidia will put out one of their ridiculously detailed guides to the graphics settings so we can tune the game to our liking.

>>337571395
I'm having a lot of fun, never played a Doom before so (perhaps fortunately) I can't make any such comparisons. Being so mobile in an FPS is for me very, very refreshing, along with the sheer number of weapons always at your disposal. The overall level design is so good, especially when you realise how the areas are interconnected during exploration. Also enjoying reading up on the lore in quieter moments. In short, it's a great experience.
How long is the singleplayer campaign?

>>337575953
Can't you customize your server and change it so there are no loadouts and have the MP play as old multiplayer shooters? I know they promised that months before release at least.
>>337571395
rated it 6.5 after the first hour, gave it a 7.5 after 8.
Game gets better at the end because you can fiy some of the gameplay issues with the upgrades.
Those upgrades should have been available from level 1.
If you get for 20bucks it's a good buy and if you really have to get it, don't pay more than 30 and you will enjoy that fucker.
>>337575072
You should be fine. The "texture cache paging" and the Anti Aliasing options probably govern the most. Doom gives a lot of AA options and I think texture cache from ultra to high doesn't seem to affect graphhics (maybe a 1 ms where all the textures load onto assets when entering a new room) and it saves like 5-6 fps which is the difference between an (un)detectable FPS dip.
I played it non-stop for 5 hours. It's hella dope. Disregard the multiplayer and go ballz blazing in single player.
Is the final boss Satan? This will decide for me whether or not I buy the game.

I don't understand why they let brain dead consolefags show this game off. It's actually pretty good when played on M&K by someone who has played an FPS before.
The multiplayer beta had me convinced the game would be complete trash, so that didn't help either.

This game is retardedly easy. I really don't know what the fuck >>337573062 is on about. While imps do a lot of damage, if you are any bit good at shooters, you can avoid their fireballs and quickly snag glory kills to avoid spending any ammunition, and the game gives you plenty of cover and opportunities to tear enemies apart. I'm really regretting this purchase.
>>337576435
Also AI seems to be great, enemies climb on shit, use different tactics, try to surround you and they are some quick motherfuckers giving a good pace to the game.
>>337576060
That's why I don't mind the helmet being there, but going to the knee arrow is too much. Referencing actual material isn't a problem, a single unremarkable line that became a meme is just shit.

>>337576665
>quickly snag glory kills to avoid spending any ammunition
You spend ammo on imps, unless you fucking melee them 4+ times
So I was gonna buy it on gmg but they're somehow "out of stock"
I don't want to pay full price as I did and already refunded it on steam
Are sites like cdkeys actually trustworthy or is there any more semi legit deals out there like on gmg? I heard you can get the game removed off your steam account if they know you bought it off a keys site, but not sure if that's even true
>>337571395
It's fun as fuck.
The multiplayer is pretty meh, but on snapmap it's pretty decent. I had a fun 1v1 with weapon pickups and ramped up speed.
The singleplayer is awesome though - no nonsense, fun, fast, brutal. Love it.

It's basically DOOM and DOOM 2 just with all the fancy stuff a modern game has, the game's level-design is also damn good.
If you actually played DOOM 1993 and loved it, you'll appreciate the care taken to recreate the magic. However, this doesn't mean it wallows in DOOM 1993, it takes common FPS tropes and subtly pokes fun at them for their bullshit.
>You must carefully realign the crystals with several steps.
>fucking smashes it instead.
I smiled because it reminded me of the bullshit other FPS games do, by making you do a several step process to do something that requires care in a game about shooting the fuck out of things for the sake of adding a couple more "Defend objective A while enemies charge you, because this procedure is delicate"
>>337572483

Loving it so far. Some of the challenges are real bitches but they aren't mandatory, and it took me a little while to get the hang of double jumping but even if you fuck up Doomguy is innately good at catching a ledge. It's fast-paced enough for me when the fight is on and once you've finished killing everything you can run around looking for hidden shit to improve your gear and admire the awesome scenery.
I honestly can't wait to beat it just so I can play it again.

It's one of the most fun shooters I've played in a while. Some of the firefights can get intense, especially when you fight a bunch of big enemies at once. I've been breezing through fights with smaller guys with just the shotgun though, which is fine. I don't understand why every game needs to be super hardcore. Sometimes you just gotta turn your brain off and have a good time. If you aren't a faggot who has to look at every single little thing about a game and deeply analyze it, then you will enjoy it.
Multiplayer is surprisingly fun too. Nothing spectacular, but it's Doom multiplayer so you shouldn't expect anything great anyway.
/v/ always complains that games are too cinematic now, and then Doom comes around which has hardly any cutscenes and is just about a guy running around shooting demons and it's called "shit" by a majority of people who probably haven't even played it.

How many of you are actually playing it on nightmare first run?
>>337580006
You mean Ultra-violence? Shit would be too easy otherwise
>Full of cinematic shit, including actual cutscenes.
>guns suck, unless you upgrade
>barely can hold any ammo, unless you level-up
>maps are linear pipes connecting obligatory combat arenas you get locked into
>you get around half-a dozen enemies on screen at once, at best. No Pinkie packs.
>everything glows.
>some fucking robo guy literally handholds you through the game, via radio.
>no mods, and the Snapmap is literally just all about connecting handful of pre-made rooms together, with strict enemy limit.
>only 4 players max in Snapmaps.
>MP is Gaylo-tier shit.
>Spider is the last boss, and is not hitscan anymore either.
>bosses have HP bars
>ending was literally a slap to face + "lol, look forward to teh sequel, goy!"
Obviously the Wolf:TNO and SW2013 fags will love this shit, and now proceed to try and prove why I'm wrong.
Where do I pirate it from?
>>337580221
>pasta
>100$ for the full D44M experience
fucking love it. Fast (so fast), executions are like those in bulletstorm or hotline, a tactical choice for Iframes that are quick and fluid but you might get surrounded.
I didn't see nor hear hide nor hair of the sp or multi until I picked it up, and am really loving the multi as well. Picking people mid air with rockets is supremely satisfying, and it's a very approachable, casual fuckfest in the best sort of way.
Basically my GOTY and possibly GOTD. No shill, the soundtrack makes me want to sink an axe into someones chest its magnificent
>>337580006
I was too much of a pussy to do it on Nightmare, so I toned it down Ultra Violence for my first playthrough.
So far it's been decently challenging although honestly I kind of wished I had the option to switch to Nightmare, since you can't select it in the options menu once the game's already started.

Default highest difficulty is Ultra Violence
>>337580221
This right here is a prime example of a post-SWTOR /v/ shitpost. It is filled with blatant misinformation provided by someone who hasn't played the game
It's just infuriating that when an actual good game comes out, especially one which was in my mind looking pretty bad actually turns out to be quite decent and the bored shitposters line up left and right because it's goddamn hilarious and the moderators won't do a single fucking thing about it
>>337580812
Oh shit I didn't even realise. I was wondering why I couldn't switch to nightmare difficulty once I started the game on Ultra Violence.
>>337571395
I like it a lot. The level design is exactly like the original. Im starting off on ultra violence and the game is challenging so far. Haven't touched multi player yet i played the beta and was not impressed at all.
>>337571395
Was expecting a lot more enemies on the screen. The enemies have too much HP and pack too much of a punch to compensate. Which is bad. Plasma rifle doesn't feel like it melts. Shotgun feels a bit wimpy. Ammo is too scarce. Level design is actually good with lots of verticality going on. Wish the secrets weren't just dolls. And I wish the only upgrade we had was the backpack like in the original doom. Also shoot my face but I find glory kills really satisfying. It is actually done right with really smooth and very quick animations. Was afraid that the animations would be too long. Also, where is the Doomguys grunts and deathcries?
Fuck these broken fucking death from above hitboxes. These challenges are literally the worst fucking ones in the game. It's not even about being skillful or doing something impressive, it's about getting lucky

Doom 3 doomguy isn't the same doomguy as 1 and 2, it's a new marine.
Basically this is a direct sequel to 2, while 3 is kind of a spin off with a new marine doing shit.
>>337580982
how good is the trip and head bash on the summoner?
>>337573062
You're right im playing on Ultra Violence too and it is hard as fuck you get hit a few times and you're done. You literally have to do glory kills in some areas to survive because it's such a clusterfuck if you don't you will die. I'm really shocked they basically recreated the original doom. That's great and all but the level designs are exactly like the original which is selling point to me .
>>337580982

Why have ANY in the first place? And no, "lol u can ignore it if u wish!" is not a valid argument. Games like Doom and Douk did good enough "story telling" with their environments and visual design, with tiny info-dumps between chapters.
>then upgrade you autist x2
Why has FPS games became RPGs? Why can't the guns be as beefy and hi-capacity as back in 1993 ?
>it's literally not
oh, but it literally, absolutely is. Having tiny, obvious branches that hold a """secrit""" item do not change this fact.

>Some of the weapon mods seem shittier than the others. Who would pick the zoom on the machine gun when you cam have missiles?
The piercing bullets and stronger bullets when zoomed mostly. It's more of an early game crowd control machine.
Once you get the minigun though, the only reason to ever use the AR is for the endless missiles.

I've actually seen some reviews on steam giving the it a negative because it wasn't like doom 3.
Just finished it.
Early on it's a bit repetitive with all enemies being killed by a few shots then a glory kill and you carrying very little ammo,
Really starts to pick up in the middle of the game, went from "this is kinda meh..." to "this is kinda awesome" without me noticing when I started having a blast.
>Good Points:
Really fun, fast and everything feels meaty (except for the assault rifle and plasma gun which both lat impact)
Just about the right length, ends before it gets tiresome.
>Bad points
Most of the game is disguised monster arenas with around 6 enemies at a time, each generally replaced by a progressively tougher enemy that teleports in (sometimes right next to you). Feels a bit cheap, would have rather more enemies with less spawning in.
Plot is standard stuff
You'll have all the weapon upgrades you want about 1/2 the way through and suit upgrades are generally useless outside of a small number (never even noticed the secret detection mod)
Environments are a bit samey, Hell in particular is a bit boring, felt they could have been more creative, especially compared to Doom 3Buy the DLC for the real ending!
I'm still trying to figure out just who the hell those spooky green ghost marines were.

Man I remember when /pol/ got all triggered about TNO.
The game had Half Life 2 level design, good feeling weapons, actually a pretty good story and characters as far as modern shooter stories go (mostly because they winked at you the whole time)
>the fucking gold jewtech atlantis
>holocaust happened because the nazi's figured out the joos secret joo weapons
And the game did actually go out of the way to have reasons to hate the nazi's besides them being nazis. You'd hear the soldiers get freaked out all the time over some of the crazy shit Olga and Dethshead were doing.
Super Shotty is pretty much mandatory in MP, and there are only a couple decent options for your second weapon.
Everybody rocking shotty and vortex or rockets.
>>337571395
I just did the level where that robot doctor dude freaks out at you for breaking his energy tower,
This game does the same thing Wolfenstein TNO does, It has all the things a DOOM game would have except it's got a lot of modern game design in it, for better or worse depending on your tastes I guess.

I do like how its just a kind f silent anger instead of Brootal Doom's edgy anger.
Brutal Doom kinda revels in its violence and makes the enemies suffer, which just adds gameplay clutter.
The original just follows up killing with more killing. This game has brutal's executions but even when they're slow it doesn't seem to dwell on them from what i've seen. Could use a speed up though.
Also I will never understand why arena shooter fags make such a big deal about melee being a button as apposed to a separate weapon. They'll curse halo to high heavens when in all the id games I've played, hours and hours of Doom1&2, Quake 1 and expansions, and Quake3/Live you hardly EVER use melee attacks. Its backup in Doom1&2 and is only viable with a chainsaw, actually using your fists hardly ever happens, you just end up shooting them point blank with a shotgun instead.
Masterchief is more melee viable in general combat than Doomguy is after using a ton of berserker packs.
>>337583791
Nah, try again. Sorry I didn't shit my pants when I fought it like you apparently did.
I doubt that half the people in here have even played the original Doom and Doom II. What's worse is that the majority of people that played it in here probably used freelook.

>>337583925
I played it back in 2013 in GZdoom, with vanilla gameplay options.
Then I switched to freelook without autoaim because there's no difference apart from being able to splash rocket and BFG damage in very specific situations. Otherwise I'm still mostly looking horizontal, just much more comfortable.
Now if you want to complain about Brutal Doomfags that will never appreciate the vanilla weapon and enemy balance, then you'll have a point.

Never thought I'd see the day
When this got announced I knew I would buy it, because I love the setting and I really liked Doom 3. As more videos came out, the beta, and everything else I really did not like the look or feel of this game and debated not getting it at all. On launch day I told myself, if it is fun I'll get it. Even if it is generic, I have played mediocre shooters before for a solid setting, looking at you Resistance 1. I hopped on /v/ and people said it was good, I trust day 1 /v/ on a lot of things since you can feel their enthusiasm in their posts when it is real. Pick it up, why not. Start playing it after I let the patch finish and I have had a rough week so I tell myself I am going to get as absolutely high as I can while playing Doom. Start game up, intro levels have a really cool and well designed map, boring enemies, pistol feels dumb and shotgun is okay. Wonder if I made a mistake and forge ahead, I've only seen two-three enemy types so far really. Imps pick the pace of the game up, impressive AI, a lot of vertical movement from them. Play some more, unlock more guns, new enemies. Weird laser arm guy, never even saw him in preview trailers. Barons of Hell and Summoners are really intense, teach me you move or you die in the game. (Gotta go fast) Weapon mods, holy shit. Explosive round on the combat shotgun is so satisfying on everything, shooting missiles like fucking Ironman with the heavy rifle, remote detonating rockets on everything ever. A lot of platforming, nice change of pace from most hallway shooters, game starts to feel frantic and fast at this point. Realize I am having a blast but hitting a wall with slaughtering demons over and over. Hop on multiplayer, it's fun but very vanilla. Only enjoyed whatever map type is control/map domination. Everyone is forced to the same spots to fight instead of getting shotgunned by the one stealthed asshole in multiplayer. Try Snapmaps, nope. Play more single player and decide I spent my money well, recommended for F U N
>>337583886

You've clearly not been using berserk packs correctly.
Also it's satisfying chainsawing all the pinkies.
I'd buy the game if I could find it for 25%+ off.
Played an hour, felt like doom, was old doomguy somehow kept alive and imprisoned in hell, killed demons, got keys and opened doors. I just need more metal blaring at me and it'd be pretty close to the old doom but in a more modernized form.

It's mostly just veeery overrated. It became the #1 reason couple years ago why a totally new generation of gamers even gave OG Doom a shot, and now treat it as some sort of obligatory "patch" you need to use to make the game playable.
Personally, I find the mod just to ruin the balance, art-style and pacing of the game.

I use berserker packs as much as I can, chainsaw too. But the point plank supershotgun in Doom 2 is much more equivalent to the melee in halo, and turns up in regular gameplay much more frequently.
I mostly just hear iDfags go on about how casual it is to have melee easily accessable, when melee's use in Doom 1&2 and the quakes is so severely situational that it doesn't show up in combat. Its not situational like the rest of doom's weapons, its just a backup thats really only decent for killing imps and riflemen. You can kite 1-3 shotgunners with your fists, but thats with infighting.
Melee in something like halo is like an alt fire more than anything else.

Well I've already beaten in and am doing a second playthrough on UV, so it's not first impressions.
But I'm really having fun with it. Honestly the most fun I've had with a triple A title in years. Wolfenstein The New Order and Shadow Warrior 2013 didn't really do anything for me and I was convinced this was gonna suck, but it really doesn't.
I don't like the canned animations and the forced cutscenes, and the RPG system makes the beginning a bit boring to play through, but once you get the double jump and the cool weapons, it's a blast to play.
I'm curious if they'll follow up with Quake.

>>337573062
>If I have full armor, and a wave of Imps spawn and I get hit by 3 fireballs I'm dead
That's not good at all. Increasing damage is the laziest way to ramp up difficulty. They should have just thrown more enemies at you but I don't know if the engine could handle it or what it is
>>337572751
Games locked down with Denuvo, probably won't get cracked for several months
I got for like 45 bucks on gmg though, I think its good enough for atleast 40 bucks
>>337589895
Probably because getting pistol whipped isn't nearly as lethal as getting shot. Apparently spartans are made of tissue paper.
>>337590689
It can't handle larger waves or even large numbers of static enemies on the map, hence why most of them have to be spawned in only when triggered, and you get locked in with them so you can't trigger any other arenas at the same time.
Different/more frequent encounters at different difficulty levels is out because every potential arena in each map is already occupied (can't waste potential "content" after all). You can't even vary encounters by difficulty in snapmap.
They already have the AI as aggressive as it can be even on easymode for pacing reasons, and they can't increase enemy health, again for pacing reasons... so that leaves the only option being increased damage to the player.
>>337591791
That's really lame
>>337581151
Can't double jump onto one. Not high enough.
>>337571760
So you used two of the 20 something guns with mods, and made a final decision from that? Ok.
So you played the two slowest levels and only saw 5 of the 30 monsters and made a final decision from that? Ok.
>>337592572
I didn't have much trouble staggering targets near ledges or boxes so I could climb up and then goomba stomp them.

>Difficulty is a joke, the game is not hard by any means.
I found hurt me plenty to be an enjoyable experience with me dying a few times in harder battles. I didn't feel like I was stuck at any point but it was challenging enough to not feel too easy, either.
Now I'm replaying on Nightmare and I can barely advance from checkpoint to checkpoint while dying all the time.
I honestly don't know how you can say the difficulty is a joke. You must be far above average when it comes to fps games.
On the other hand, I absolutely love the AI of the monsters in this game. They move intelligently and alternate between many attacks. It's really fun to fight against agile monsters that don't get stuck behind every obstacle. The boss battles were also enjoyable, though I kinda hoped to see more Cyberdemon in the game. That fight was fun.
P.S. Cacodemons are super strong compared to old doom games. Their sanic-tier bullets are bullshit, along with the deadly blur effect.

>>337592572
I didn't. I double jumped from a ledge but it locked me into the forward facing animation for no fucking reason.
>>337593418
I found it was more timing than anything else. If you're too slow on the trigger you'll have fallen past the target and end up doing a ground execution instead.
Death from above is capable of triggering from very high above the target, so don't wait until partway through your fall to use it.
I enjoy it, a lot. I'm halfway through and it's the best FPS I've played in a while.
My only complain are the glory kills. I know everyone is saying it's not that bad but I positive the game would be better without it, if the game wasn't balanced around it.
The MP is mediocre, haven't tried Snapmap yet but I know I'll have a lot of fun with it if it's complex enough to support my creativity.

The multiplayer is ok but the guns are pretty shit in MP and I hate the fact that the guns are not pickups like in Unreal Tournament.

Graphics are really fucking good, whoever designed the environments in the later levels needs a medal.
Gameplay is sharp and refined as fuck, as soon as you get the double jump + Directional control while jumping upgrades it starts to feel incredible, an unstoppable flow
Story? who gives a fuck. The first thing you see doomguy do is destroy the monitor that was talking to him, because he didnt care, and we didnt care. Pretty sure we cut off earths power supply, and there is going to be sequel.
Level design is very fucking vertical, lots of shit to explore and satisfying shit to find. you can really get lost in them if you dont fuck with the map too much.
Please don't fall for the fucking game jounralism meme's and terrible marketing (Seriously, how could anyone let those gameplay trailers happen) and fucking give it a shot, maybe wait for piracy then buy whatever, just dont miss it.
>>337594792

Yeah, but it's incorrect that this webms are from Ultra Violence. I'm only on level three and enemies are already dealing more damage than in those webms. Hell an imp fireball will take off half your health if it connects, and those plasma shooting guards (who I assure placed the machinegunners from the originals) can chew through your health pretty damn quickly.

>>337590689
No idea how many enemies spawn on the easier difficulties, but on Ultra Violence within the first two levels there were times when I had to fight 7-10 enemies at a time. It gets plenty hectic, especially in the smaller areas. The older Dooms (the official levels, not shitty fan made wads) didn't exactly throw dozens of enemies at you very often.

I love the game but I can't come to grips with the pacing. I mean you're supposed to be running and gunning like a madman. That's what Doom is about and this game sort of delivers on that but then the whole game slows down because of the huge map designs and makes you run around searching for keycards and what not. And yes I know keycard searching was part of the first and second game but those maps were much more condensed in size.

I like the game but I can't get 60fps constant on anything other than low settings with 1080, also if you put on vsync with medium or higher it jumps from 30 to 60 which is very annoying with it off it does the same and my set-up is more powerful than consoles apparently.
Don't fall for the meme, buy console port.
>>337573062
I finished the game on Nightmare today and I don't even know how many times I died, it's ridiculous. You lose 150 armor if an imp as much as coughs at you. Those fuckers are everywhere and they're sneaky. Coast is clear on the right, so you engage that mancubus and kite him a bit while walking backwards - suddenly you're stuck because an imp snuck behind you and is now clawing away at your ass. You're a stationary target while it's raining fireballs, each of which takes half of your health. Needless to say, mah nigga you got roasted.

>I like the level design. More open and full of secrets than TNO levels were on average. Feels like a logical progression of classic DOOM's secrets. Minus the ones you had to get within a certain time. Some invisible walls exist ad it sucks but they aren't as noticeable as TNO.
>The sound design is alright, also reminds me of TNO. One annoying thing is that the music stops for some reason at points in the classic maps and its jarring. The industrial metal is alright, but I would've liked something more like TNO. But I'm biased as a Meshuggah fan.

You have been outsmarted and can't reply with a coherent argument so resort to insults. You have truly shown how dumb you are and I have won the argument.
I will now leave and not look at your reply because I have won and you have lost.
See ya ;)
Been playing MP all day, can't stop. Combat Shotgn + Burst Rifle is so fucking versatile. It's been my go to for getting the top 3. I can't decide on a utility yet, hologram is somewhat broken tho.
>>337601873
sucks to be you i guess
>>337595971
multiplayer is just a big UAC combat-sim, lore wise, if that helps you get over seeing people named xX_swagboy12_Xx looking like a deviantart reject version of megatrontrue story just looking at him triggered me
>>337601714
I've played through doom and doom 2 on nightmare, play plenty of WADS, and love lots of other old shooters and am enjoying D44M. It's a pretty decent game outside of the multiplayer.
>>337601873
>what is chacheing
>what is an SSD
or are you playing on a console like a pleb?
>>337571395
I've played about an hour so far, it's okay but I was yawning.
It's more of a Doom game than Doom 3, but just because I'm pleasantly surprised for the first time in years doesn't mean I'll automatically buy it
Maybe next year, or 2018 when I build a new PC
So what is the planned DLC?
Why doesn't the game have a survival/horde mode? Possibly even co-op survival?
>>337603351
SnapMap mode has that
>>337571760
Shotguns were not built to have distance. Lol
>>337603351
Just multiplayer DLC and free SnapMap DLC. There's no campaign DLC as of now.
>>337603251
>yawning.
I had the same issue, but at the same time i get bored every time i play 1992 doom.
It's just mostly shooting demons and that's it.
This game is exactly the same with some new mechanics but the core is the same.
>>337602997
Nevermind, I'm back to set a few things straight. First off, I'm borderline retarded and barely smart enough to sit on the toilet correctly, so there's that. And yeah, Im not educated when it comes to music, so thanks to the other anons for pointing out that DOOM's music is indeed industrial. I have lost and you have won.
Now I'll leave for good. Anyone replying is a faggot and imposter whose mother will die of cancer.
See ya ;)
>>337571395
CRACK WHERE
>>337603351
>So what is the planned DLC?
100% multiplayer shit. They will have the least follow through on season passes all time.
Why the fuck they would make the dlc MULTIPLAYER and not SINGLE PLAYER is fucking CONFOUNDING
does MP require plus on the quad?
>>337603502
dont tell the gow generation that
you'll crush their feelings
a big downside is lack of enemies at a single time and denuvo, which kills any possibility of mods
>>337603601
I don't even know why devs make DLC in the first place, large expansion packs i get, but tiny little purchases are just stupid
>>337603606
what
>>337603601
Yeah, they could have made some more maps from doom 2 or 64 to play in or new side thing like doom 3 had
>>337603660
Play on nightmare. Enemy concentration gets to old doom levels by the time you reach hell.
>>337603228
PC. SSD.
Game runs perfectly after initially loading it (90 fps maxed out and all that)
>>337603502
>Shotguns were not built to have distance. Lol
you have no idea what the accurate range of a shotgun is
fucking little kids who think in real life "shotgun" means a 10 inch sawed off with buckshot
>>337603601
Agreed, especially like it seems the weakest/least liked part of the game.
Maybe they'll do an old school campaign expansion pack and release it for free.
Sounds crazy but who knows?
>>337603606
yes
>>337603792
Your SSD is a shit then anon
>>337603694
>>337603606
Does multiplayer require PS+ on PS4
Answer is yes
>>337603694
>tiny little purchases are just stupid
How is it stupid if it works? :^)
>>337603584
This desu.
Not paying that much for a 10 hour game and shit MP
>>337603743
>Yeah, they could have made some more maps from doom 2 or 64 to play in
why the fuck would i pay money for that?
>>337603849
we think alike, I like that
>>337585323
>The guy who designed the enemies designs movie monsters eg Pacific Rims Kaiju
Reminder anything that hollywood touches turns into trash
>>337584492
Arachno soundfont or sc88 soundfont is even better, imo.
>>337571450
>easter eggs are memes now
This place really is shit. Look at what it's done to you people.
>>337603980
Sold.
>>337603745
>you have to play for hours for it to get better!
no thanks
>>337603601
works for gtav :^)
http://steamcharts.com/top
>>337576754
>developer puts in an easter egg
>OMG FUCKING MEMEGAME FUCK
You people are pathetic.
>>337581151
How do you do those anyway? I only managed pulling one off after jumping from a very high distance.
>>337603606
>>337603694
>>337603865
Why would anyone play this on a console?
>>337604114
It's an easter egg of a meme
>>337582152
>Far Cry Blood Dragon
Has shittiest gameplay ever.
>>337604114
>arrow to the knee shit wasnt a garbage meme
shut your dumbass up
>>337604114
It IS a meme.
But I do agree this place is shit. Imagine how much /v/ would have bitched about the pop culture references in Duke 3D.
>SICK REFERENCE BRO
>>337582224
So you like boring, slow corridor shooters where you cant even see your enemy half the time?
>>337604334
found the shill
>>337603980
alright thats neat
>tfw nobody noticed this
>>337604312
your taste belongs in the trash.
>>337603980
I love those collectable Doomguys.
I wish they could have tied the mp with the sp some more, like "If you beat the sp you get classic doom guy armor, or getting the patriotguy collectible gets you that colorscheme in mp"
Mp sucks but i think it has potential, def with some tweaks and actual updates they can get something cool here
>>337604769
The fallout thing? there's a bunch of that
>>337604769
There's even a vaultguy collectible
>>337604797
It's literally Far Cry 3, only dumbed down to the point where literally nothing but titular blood dragons can even hurt you when you level up a couple of times, and leveling up is fucking automatic. The title is like the best way to instantly detect people with shittiest taste, the ones who are easily wowed by aesthetics and thing the combat is EPIC and AWESOME because DUDE LASERS LMAO
>>337605451
All that being said, its still better than Doom.
>>337605635
Even fucking Doom 3 is better than Blood Dragon.
>>337604769
a Fallout reference, ok
Does anyone have a list of all the little dolls? are they all Doomguy or is there another character like CyberDemon or even BJ or Ranger?
>>337605090
>>337605730
>Fallout
>in Doom
stupid as fuck
So is half price on G2A but they want me to select VAT or no VAT, which is 25% in my country. What happens if i just lie and chose 0 vat? will the steam key not work/deactivate?
Was the mp done by a separate studio or something?
>>337605808
They're all Doomguy and they open up character and gun models in the menu.
>>337605635
>blood dragon
>better than Doom
Top kek.
Blood Dragon has the most boring and stalest open world imaginable, and all you fight are the same sort of enemies you fight in any other Far Cry game with the exception of the Blood Dragons (who are boring as fuck to fight against anyways.)
>>337606095
Its DLC. What did you expect?
I'm bummed there's no TNO references.
>>337606010
Certain Affinity.
>>337606010
yes
