I was in closed beta since August. Can confirm that this game is low skill ceiling bullshit. You just don't realize it until you've played the game and understand the characters, the meta and the flow of the game.
The most beneficial thing about the open beta for Blizzard is that everyone only got to play while they were freshly hyped and didn't have the game knowledge, playing against complete shitters. They are going to get so many sales as a result of that. People aren't going to realize they've made a mistake until it's too late.

I read that it had something to do with the licensing fees they have to pay to M$ and Sony, but who knows. Look at it as a regularly priced console game with bonuses thrown in, I guess.

It actually funny, Overwatch came at the right time now that TF2 is all but dead (compared to number in its prime), so I feel Blizzard capitalized on it. I know me and a friend that used to play TF2 religiously in its heydey got very excited for Overwatch during the beta. It's fun and reminds us of TF2 in certain aspects (not all)

Waiting for Overwatch to come out made me replay TF2. I enjoyed it and it was very nostalgic, but I'll be honest: even though I could tell TF2 is a mechanically deeper game, Overwatch was just more fun to me. Switching heroes doesn't solve the problem with Point A of Volskaya Industries you idiot. The only heroes who can use the the left most back alley over the water is Reaper/Genji/Tracer/Pharah/Dva and Mercy with a Pharah. That is an incredibly limited number of heroes that can take advantage of the only alternate entrance, and it's not a wise decision for the Tank and Supports to pick offensive heroes when you already have 1+ of them.

SC2 was an Esports game that they split into 3 games for money... Fragmenting the community and ensuring it never could stand up to brood war. Now they're trying to sell 'mission packs' after butchering any hope of a true E-sports sequel to broodwar, or even a worthy storyline sequel to the original Starcraft.
Hearthstone has payment transactions built into it basically from the ground up.
Heart of the swarm went the route of having to buy heroes. Not the worse thing, but still a step down from Valve's model.
