It's short, most of the bosses are underwhelming, and there are many parts of the game that feel unfinished or rushed. DaS1 was a better game overall, even if it plays a little clunky now in comparison.
I didn't play DaS2 or DeS so I can't comment on those.
I think Bloodborne was the best of the series that I've played. It felt much more polished (especially when compared to DaS3), the bosses, areas, and overall experience was generally favourable. I also think that most of the things it added to the series were improvements.

I may have been confusing all of DaS1's backtracking for game length, but DaS1 had far better bosses and the boss progression from the asylum demon to bert&ernie was well done.
