My first time playing this game, picked up Scout and so far i've been dominating.
This game really is easy as fuck to pick up. I went like 4 kills and 17 deaths when I was trying to go sniper
No because as soon as they try they do terribly and pick an easier class
It was Pyro but these days I think it's Heavy thanks to nerfs to the former and buffs to the later

Scout is a great class to play first if you want to get good at the actual game.
You'll most get your ass kicked, though.
You can pretty much play anything else and do better. Yes, this included "sit back and follow" Medic and "M1" Pyro, Heavy, Demo, Soldier.
Anyway, no, it's one of the more annoying classes to start off as starting from scratch.

- pick 1 particular player on the enemy team
- run up to them and attempt to shoot them
- switch to pistol if they're more than 15 feet away
- run away if you are on less than half health, you're scout that's your whole gimmick now use it
- repeat until you are dominating that player

- repeat until they ragequit

for a soldier just keep your distance and move unpredictably. do not approach a heavy. also works well on sniper and demoman, so most of the classes in the game. scout has a very high DPS, if he can't kill a class outright he can retreat, grab health and come back 1 minute later

No, the scout is weak, requires aim, has to get in close to enemies to do damage despite being weak, and relies on good movement to stay alive. He has no 'win' buttons like other classes.
Babbies first class is pyro, sniper or heavy. Two of them can M1 for free kills, the other can hide on the battlements and get charged bodyshots for free kills.

How did this meme start? Is it because of w+m1? That pyro strat isn't viable at all since any decent player just backs up causing the w+m1 pyro's flame to shorten as he chases.
Good pyros need to be sneaky so they can circle behind while s+m1'ing and/or they need to aim so they can airblast+flare gun/reserve shooter. Babbys generally can't aim on an airborne opponent.
