How the fuck did they get this to even run on a PS4? I don't get it. Doesn't the PS4 have like a netbook cpu in it? Is the game engine some miracle shit or what exactly is happening here? The PS4 is outdated as hell

Which is actually a very cpu efficient way of doing lighting besides that It isn't dynamic. Dmc4 also uses this which is part of why it runs so well.

It's not like that scene has tons of variables, or things that can happen in it. Even the more impressive set-pieces of Uncharted 4 don't have too many things that can happen in them.
When you start limiting options getting shit to run is easy, especially when you have team experienced in work like this and backing of millions of dollars.

ND were boasting about full real time global illumination along with targeting 1080P 60FPS when UC4 was announced. They didn't hit any of the goals they were boasting about in 2014 and the game uses a ton of hacks and shortcuts because it has poor LOD, poor texture filtering and a weak FXAA in game never mind the frame pacing problems.

Why people are making fun of it is because everything ND claimed was possible was cut back severely and yet Digital Foundry is trying to spin it as a "Technical masterpiece". The animations are really impressive but UC4 does nothing really new nor does it look very impressive even for a game running on a toaster.

It's only a cover based shooter if you're a retard and cover based shooting is the only strategy you can come up with. On the other hand if your brain is capable of coming up with fun ways to use the tools given to you, you can run around and swing on ropes throwing grenades and punching those dasdardly dogs like Errol fucking Flynn, with slightly less gay overtones.

You can tell that they had to cut a lot of corners, even the water doesn't look as good as AC4 or GTAV
And the shadows are way too soft and thefilm grain is over the top. The lighting and amount of foliage is still quite impressive though

The lighting is fine but Digital Foundry were slaming the fuck out of other titles for using pre-baked lighting for ages and taking shortcuts while claiming that UC4 would be a big real time lighting and technology showcase. Then it turned out that UC4 is just as big an offender but suddenly it doesn't matter now and shortcuts are "Technically impressive"

Why can't the PS4 do it?
