I've had more reds act like chaotic purples than the purples I see.
Invaded with a greatsword and the host was a limber jumping faggot with a dagger. Host was a reactive fighter and would only counter attack and I was too slow for a frontal attack so the fight went on for a couple hours while I tried new tactics and the host kept waiting around for a counter. I killed a white phantom when I invaded, killed a sunbro that was summoned later, and took out three blues during my two hour battle with the host. Finally another red phantom invades and the two of us start double teaming the host, but the other red is a greatsword user as well and also has a hard time hitting the host and avoiding the counters. after a few failed assaults the red turns on me and I had to take him down. A second red invades sometime later and he doesn't even bother with the host and just runs right at me, but he only got one hit in as the host disconnected.

Actually no, gank squads are a real threat as an Aldrich. Most set themselves up at the entrance down to the tomb, and use weapons with sweeping attacks to push people off the edge. Plus, even if I'm lucky enough to have say another Aldrich and a red, us three, uncoordinated with the red being able to hurt us and vice-versa, are generally no match for a coordinated team of phantoms most likely communicating over some voice application. The worst part is that when I watch my idiot Aldrich teammate die when they rush in, I then have nowhere to really run to because a) there's not many enemies in Anor Londo and b) most gank squads won't even chase.

Spells are hidden body and chameleon. I have a shitload of weapons upgraded, though. Also a high stability shield. This is mostly my BIG TIME HELPER loadout. Flatten mobs with the greatbow. Host jumps on the downed enemy. Bleed out anything heavily armored by stabbing it in the ass. Kill bosses in record time. Reds won't realize the host isn't alone till it's too late.

I think everyone running a convent badge seriously needs to step back and think about what they really want from it. If you want the items, you're literally better off farming PVE for it no matter your convent or how good you are at PVP. Even if you somehow win every invasion you do, the time spent hunting and killing the host is probably not worth it in itself. If you don't want the items, then there's no reason to get bent out of shape over how people PVP.
Personally I go with the flow. If the host wants a duel, I duel. If the host wants to heal and phantom, I back peddle through the area and try to scoop up kills while they fight mobs. If someone decides to play hide and go seek, I'll do that too.

For anyone having trouble invading, seriously consider investing in the stats to onehand a decent crossbow.
Arbalest is nice, and you can get it early game.
Use it as a punishing and pressure tool. Certain weapon types are really hard to deal with because they play too tight a defensive game for very little effort or skill. Things with hyper armor in particular can become impossible to punish through hyper armor frames as closing in for any kind of punish is followed up with gouging you for half your HP. Flicking a bit of HP off the top every time they try to bait will put them off their game, hopefully.
Works great for chuggers too. Be ready to put a bolt in them every time they sip. Consider it a HP tax for sippies. Losing a fourth to third of the HP they could have gained adds up to a lot of wasted healing over a drawn out fight.

Same, I always have perfect online interactions and got summoned so many times for Aldritch/Blue/Wolf covenants that by the end I just didn't have any covenants on.
