Don't use lock on, at least for his first phase. Other than that I think it's dodge to his left mostly then hit once or twice and back off. But seriously, his first phase is a battle against a wild flailing monster, so there's not really a full proof strat. Obviously you can't parry him because of his size. Loosen up those fingers and prepare to react fast.
Oh and use fire paper and a serrated weapon if you have it.

Man Bloodborne from Byrgenwerth on almost approaches DS1 post Lordvessel for me. So many rehashed enemies and terrible boss fights. It's not too hard. It has some of those Souls-esque things that will fuck you up occassionally but it's fairly easy compared to DaS I(the only other souls game I've played).
Most enemies are pretty easy and can be killed in 1-5 hits. They do a lot of damage though, so if you can't into dodging they might fuck you up. Otherwise not very hard.
First Boss was hard but the rest of them aren't really much of a challenge. Most can be beaten pretty easily by parry combos or by summoning an NPC.
Despite all that it's still pretty fun. Haven't beat it yet, currently about 2/3 of the way through though. Still using the first weapon I got.

All the weapons are viable. Hunter's Axe has very versatile moveset. Personally when I used the Axe I gave up parrying sometimes because the stun potential from a point blank blunderbuss is such that you could easily begin a new axe combo before the enemy could recover from the blast.

A bunch of Sen's fortresses sounded amazing to me, then I actually played them. Extremely boring and monotonous coupled with the fact that the best gems and weapon alternates are in them, which brings me to this.

These have NO fucking place in a souls game. Player skill trumps stats in these games always yet its not enough just to upgrade your weapon (with the pitiful amount of resources they give you) you have to rely on damage percentage gems. If gems were just auxiliary effects like fire damage, or extra rally that would be perfectly fine, but no we get "You best grind those gems if you want to have any chance at that defiled boss ;^)."

Yes they're like that because you can visceral them or hit they're weakpoints. Which is a great idea except if you aren't playing a skill build (By far the best in the game) then its a serious test of patience since getting counter hit will one shot you at 10 or 30 vit.
Everything else is great but goddamn this game just felt like another ds2-tier blunder to me, or at first it did.
