You roll, wait for a time to attack, and roll some more to dodge the enemies attack, wait for a time to attack, there you go. That's the game. Every fight is like that except some enemies have different attacks thus you have to learn when to roll and when to attack.

In Black Ops III, you have to aim, jump, slide, wallrun, anticipate enemy movements especially when not visible to you, crouch behind cover, switch weapons, panic melee, etc.
In Dark Souls III, you roll, R1, and occasionally make distance to press Square if you fucked up the roll and R1.

In platformers you at least actually jump over enemies and evade them instead of i-framing through them. You make meaningful use of the space, whereas in Souls it usually doesn't even matter where you roll so long as it's not off a cliff.
(This is part of why DaS2 actually had the deepest combat. It had the most cliffs. Fighting on a narrow bridge takes more thought than fighting in a wide corridor.)

When will this meme die. Even the worst players 'git gud' after their first playthrough. Half the struggle of the game is on the first playthrough when learning enemy placements and where to find better weapons/upgrade materials. And after you reach a certain proficiency the game stops being fun because it's really fucking short and instead relies on it's difficulty to keep you from powering through. But if you're actually good you can just beat the game in a few hours.

The absolute and by far the best game released this year is The Witness, which also has more impressive and cohesive world design than the linear slog that is DaS3. It is also actually challenging and requires a wide variety of skills to develop in order to beat it. Getting the normal ending took me 20 hours and that literally isn't even half the game, so I played it for at least 20 more.
The second-best game, and the one I will play the most, is Paragon, the MOBA by Epic with GRAPHICS. The combat is substantially deeper than Souls and blessedly has no i-frames.
