Kalos never got a third version or sequel to salvage the region, so yeah.I personally felt ORAS was pretty good, on par with Emerald overall with each having different strengths, but could've been amazing with a bit more time in the oven to bring over some of Emerald's good features and to add a bit more new than they did.

The official explanation as to why they didn't include Emerald's Frontier was that most people these days wouldn't have the time or patience for the Frontier. Which I don't think is necessarily wrong, even in 2005 most of my friends never bothered with it for long other than the Factory because it was too hard for them with no knowledge of IV's or EV's, but considering just how many people play Pokemon there's still tons of people who would play it and want it. Even if ten million of the fourteen million that buy the game never even touch it, there's still four million you're disappointing by not including it. Plus the deeper mechanics of the games are more well-known, understood, and accessible than ever. So it's still bullshit.
Though honestly other than the Frontier I can't think of much Emerald added that would mesh with RS remakes. Mirage Tower and Trainer Tower are about it. We actually got the Wallace Champion fight during Delta Episode. Marine/Terra Cave and the changes to the main scenario so both teams were villains likely weren't used to keep the version exclusive aspects. I honestly can't think of much else of note it added.

my least favorite is by far ORAS, I had no more will to play that garbage about halfway through
still finished it, but had no fun doing so
other pokemon games I enjoyed very much were FireRed/LeafGreen and Platinum
X/Y was fine, not the best but it felt a little freshfuck gen VI for introducing megas though, worst mechanic to ever be implemented in this franchise
I really hope they ignore that ever happened and remove that mechanic from now on, even though that'll obviously not be the case

The Safari Zone expansion was a good idea amd I think it would need to be implemented across all of Hoenn to work. For instance, the Desert would have had an expanded area with non-Hoenn Pokemon there after beating the E4. Same with Falibar Town/Meteor Falls/etc. Basically the region as a whole would unlock 40-45% of the map with updated areas to explore.
That, or repeat the Sevii Islands where you scrap the idea of a Battle Tower altogether and just put work into designing a kickass archipelago neighboring Hoenn(which would have been the best excuse to include Faraway Island, the Soul Dew E-Reader Island, and the Lugia/Ho-Oh Island, etc).
Hell, with all of the references to X and Y (which apparently ORAS is a prequel to?) Game Freak could have taken the postgame content a step further and included some visit-able regions of Kalos.

Yeah, I would've loved another Sevii Islands deal. It's probably my favorite part about FRLG. Though the Eon Ticket and Southern Island are already in ORAS.
The idea of the whole region expanding after the National Dex reminds me of Pokemon Vega, which is probably the one romhack I've played and really enjoyed that makes a whole new region. Once you beat the champ every dungeon expands with new areas in them with new Pokemon and Gym Leader rematches. I really loved that aspect and would love to see an actual Pokemon game do it.
I wouldn't want to revisit Kalos, especially only a year later.

Probably Platinum honestly. Was the last one I could sink more than a hundred hours into and I thought it had a good region and good pokemon. BW was irredeemable trash as was X/Y. Didn't even buy or bother with BW2 or the RS rerelease.

I just don't like the colors chosen for a lot of things, or some of the music arranges, or how the GB Sounds doesn't actually play the original music but just changes the soundfont for the rearranged music, or the male MC's redesign, or how there's no option to turn off following Pokemon.
