I actually think overwatch is a good thing since Valve will have to make TF2 interesting again.
If anything TF2 players should be happy there's a new game for them to jump onto. I got the Orange Box the first Christmas I was in college, that was nearly a fucking decade ago. TF2 had one of those legendary runs that only a game or two a generation has, no shame in a new game FINALLY being able to compare. The crazy part of course is that TF2 isn't even close to being dead and will probably have an active user base for years to come. But damn, it's about fucking time.

Source USED to be great, which is why it's pretty sad to see it turned into a bloated mess. I remember being able to play TF2 on the shiniest settings @ 1680x1050 years ago on a q6600/9600gt with near-zero framedrops outside of the busiest pub scenarios.
Now you need something noteably better than my (admittedly outdated) i7 920 (3.8ghz) and 2GB 7870 to even get consistent 60fps with a config optimized for highest fps possible on the same resolution in 12v12 pubs on small maps.

6v6 idea comes from the TF2 competitive, which has 2 modes: Highlander (9v9) and the 6v6 itself.
With OW, Valve is starting to put some money on the TF2 comp, which is run by its community since the game's beggining. Bad thing is that TF2 pros are migrating to OW.
But anyway, TF2 will be getting better, the competitive beta is shit, but the competitive mechanics are already stablished and the game has a meta. OW doesn't have a meta yet.

All those games failed because they have one thing in common, they are trying to get in on the most boring and repetitive multiplayer genre on the market (apart from real time strategy, but that one is long dead anyway).
Only reason why TF2 is still standing tall is because they managed to build a playerbase who are addicted to collecting hats and are to autistic to play anything else.
