Guy I know customizes controllers for a living. He claims, to date, he has not taken apart an Xbone controller that didn't have something wrong with it.
Most common problem is screws not being screwed in properly or just completely stripped, but he's ran into everything from misaligned parts to just bits of them that are broken.
It's pretty common knowledge now that Xbone controllers are some of the cheapest, poor quality pieces of shit you can buy. I've owned two now, first one the micro-USB port stopped working then the controller just stopped entirely afterwards. Second one has dodgy triggers, one sticks a lot, the other makes a loud clicking noise when pressed, it had both of these problems the day I bought it.

I don't care about the gimmicks as long as they're not forced onto games. The d-pad however is fucking ass. The vita had such a great one and they should've just taken that. Battery seems okay to me, it's about 4-5 hours which is probably the longest I play games in one setting, it also helps that my PS4 is ontop of my table which means I can always just plug the USB cable in.

I use an Xbone controller for my PC and I don't have a single problem with it, I actually have two and they work flawlessly.

The battery pack lasts 30 hours and you can charge it by USB with giant cord. But yeah you can also buy rechargeable AA batteries that last way more than the 6 hours of the DS4, and you can swap them easily so you never have to use the cable.

The first one was pretty good, but only because it was replacing the fuckup original that only had a D-pad the sticks were placed as an afterthought and it showed, the second one mushed up all the buttons, third one kept the mushed up buttons, added triggers designed so you couldn't rest your finger comfortably on them for long periods of time, and added in a short battery life and made the plastic cheap as fuck, DS4 fixed the mushy buttons, and the trigger and sticks being too close together to some degree, but then they fucked up the battery life with shit like that light and added gimmick shit like the touchpad.
