Splatoon > Overwatch > Rocket League
While Overwatch's cast of heroes allows for more play variety I would say Splatoons balance of weapons and maps allows for more game variety (how your character is played as to how the game is played)
I got tired of Overwatch matches much quicker than I get tired of Splatoon matches. Although it was just the beta so who knows what will happen when the game launches.

Basically you have a campaign with a visual novel-like presentation (but also in-game cutscenes) and then you have the online where you get in lobbies and fuck the shit out of other gunpla.
You can mix any armors/weapons together, change colors and material types (shiny, rusty, war torn, etc), even change gameplay properties if you like the style of armor but not its effects, you can change them independently (to a point)
you get money to buy gunpla boxes but also collect loot in the field.
If you like EDF I'm sure you'll like GB3, they are very similar in their core gameplay loop.

Splatoon's system isn't cheap or casual in the slightest, and if you think it is then I dare you to go on ranked for a few matches and say that again.
The fact that you can swim in your own ink, hence letting you dash, hide and regenerate sounds simple at first but adds a layer of depths simply because the "ink everything" objective become more than just "the more shit you ink the more points you get".
Honestly, putting so many mechanics onto one button was incredibly ingenous and widens the userbase in a big way. You can play turf war mode where you just run around like a retard splatting everything or you can go in ranked and focus on being really smart on where you shoot.
The fact that you don't auto-heal and that you die in like, two shots also makes the game quite brutal.
"Adult" games aren't complex games. "Adult" games add blood, boring realistic graphics with no creativity and shitty b-tier story modes.
