Had you launched this several years ago you could have probably made big bucks off something like this, but now the market is oversaturated with 2D indie shit like this. You can point to the success of Undertale, but compare that 1 game to the sea of shit on Steam Greenlight and you'll see the odds are stacked against you.
Why not just scrap this project and come up with an original game instead of mimicing old games? Retro indie games may be oversatured but there's always room for new, original ideas

I think the main character should have a much more normal nose. It's just unappealing to look at. Also the Mode 7 bullshit on the sprites look terrible, and show the guy's pretty lazy with the spritework.
The Special attacks look pretty cool, but the action bar thing for the attacks looks pretty boring. I like the fact that faster enemies will have faster bars, and if you increase your speed you'll have an easier time getting crits though.
I'm pretty sure there's going to be a mod day one that gives the main character a normal nose, and I'll probably play it then.

You don't mix sprites with tween animation. It looks obnoxiously cheap.
